APPs are vital parts of the multidisciplinary hospital based teams caring for our patients in specialty care throughout the UC Davis Health system.

    Department Specific Job Scope

    The Pediatric Float Team PA role will include caring for inpatient pediatric patients across surgical and medical services, both ICU and ward level care. The PA will be expected to order medications and diagnostic testing, interpret laboratory values and diagnostic test results safely and appropriately. In addition, the role will include: consultation with other providers; communication with patients and families; admission/transfer/discharge planning; documentation of care including daily progress notes and procedure notes. With appropriate credentials and privileges, the PA may also perform invasive procedures within their defined scope of practice. As a member of the Cardiothoracic Surgery team, the Senior Physician Assistant (PA) is an expert in the perioperative management of patients undergoing cardiothoracic procedures and participates in the medical management of this population across the spectrum of care.     To provide independent advanced practice provider clinical expertise to patients and their families on an on-going basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols standard practice protocols for your specific department. This may include non-invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, including operative first assist per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office. APPs are vital parts of the multidisciplinary hospital based teams caring for our patients in specialty care throughout the UC Davis Health system.

    Department Specific Job Scope

    The Pediatric Neurology Nurse Practitioner role will include caring for both inpatient (80%) and outpatient (20%) pediatric patients with diseases of the nervous system under the supervision of the Pediatric Neurology Attending. The PA will provide patient evaluation, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic tests, initiation of appropriate treatments and medications using established protocols and practices. In addition, the role will include: consultation with other providers; communication with patients and families; admission/transfer/discharge planning; documentation of care including daily progress notes and procedure notes. The PA will also provide education to patients, family members, and medical providers including nursing staff, allied health team members. PAs may participate in the design and implementation of research and/or quality improvement studies within the Pediatric Neurology Department.

    This position may require some cross coverage of adult Neurology patients.
