Production Operator Position Summary The Production Operator is responsible for performing a variety of manufacturing operations, including operating numerical control machining equipment and ensuring products meet required specifications and quality standards. Essential Duties Responsibilities Interpret program sheets, process sheets, and work instructions to determine required tasks Perform diversified operations on numerical control machining centers Conduct machining operations including milling, drilling, boring, and related processes Review setup sheets and specifications to determine machining sequence and finished part dimensions Set up fixtures and properly position and secure workpieces according to instructions Select and install cutting tools in machine spindles or tool magazines Operate machine controls and enter commands to run production processes Monitor machine operation to identify issues such as worn or damaged tools Change cutting tools and adjust workpiece positioning during the machining process as needed Perform inspection and gauging operations to ensure adherence to quality standards Measure finished parts to confirm conformance to specifications Notify supervision of any discrepancies or production issues Additional Responsibilities May be assigned to work in various areas of the operation, including overhead crane, heat treat, primary mill, forklift, or finishing operations
