    Job DescriptionJob Description

At Trunk Tools, we’re the leading AI company revolutionizing construction—the second-largest industry on earth. We recently raised a $40M Series B led by Insight Partners, bringing our total funding to $70M from top-tier investors including Redpoint and Innovation Endeavors. This new round is fueling our next phase of growth as we scale AI agents across the jobsite.

Our mission is to build the future of construction through intelligent automation. Despite being a $13+ trillion industry, construction still runs largely on analog processes—we’re changing that by embedding AI directly into field operations.

Founded by builders and technologists (Stanford, MIT), our team has delivered software used by over 140,000 field professionals, impacting millions of users and contributing to $10B+ in built projects. Many of us come from the field ourselves, giving us a deep understanding of the industry’s unique challenges.

After years of building the “brain” of construction, we’re now launching production-ready AI agents—starting with intelligent document processing and Q&A, and rapidly expanding into core operational workflows. Our team has doubled in the past year, and with 65+ employees (25+ engineers), we’re scaling fast and entering a period of hypergrowth—this is a rare opportunity to join at an inflection point.

    About the Role

We’re looking for a Mid-Level Product Designer to help us design intuitive, impactful, and elegant solutions for the construction industry. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and end users to translate complex workflows into simple, delightful experiences. You will play a key part in visual design, interaction and microinteraction design, refining existing features, developing new ones, and contributing to the evolution of our product as we grow our successful startup to fully enterprise scale.

You’ll Excel in This Role if You:

Have solid experience in product design (typically 2-4 years) and are eager to take ownership of your projects while working under the guidance of a senior designer and product leads.

Have very strong visual design skills

Are comfortable tackling ambiguous problems and working toward clean, user-focused solutions—either independently or in collaboration with teammates.

Think holistically about user flows, edge cases, and how UI elements connect to backend systems (experience with design systems is a plus).

Enjoy collaborating cross-functionally with engineers and product managers to define and ship features that solve real user problems.

Are comfortable iterating on designs based on user feedback and are always looking to improve the product’s usability and impact.

Are eager to participate in user research, usability testing, and customer interviews to inform your design decisions.

Are detail-oriented and take pride in creating designs that balance functionality with visual clarity.

Thrive in a fast-paced, evolving start-up environment and are willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done.

    What You’ll Do

Design and iterate on core product features from initial concepts and wireframes to high-fidelity designs and handoff

Collaborate with engineers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.

Engage in user feedback loops to validate designs and adjust based on real-world use.

Support the evolution of our product to a robust, enterprise-scale platform.

Work closely with the Senior Product Designer, Product Managers, and the broader team to help shape the product roadmap.

    Extra Credit for:

Experience designing for B2B and SaaS technology products

Experience with “vibecoding” prototypes using tools like Cursor or Lovable or Figma Make

Familiarity with the construction industry and its day-to-day workflows

Experience working in start-ups or on lean product teams.

    What we offer

πŸŽ–οΈ A close-knit and collaborative early-stage startup environment where every voice is heard and every opinion matters

💰 Competitive salary and stock option equity packages

πŸ₯ 3 Medical Plans to choose from including 100% covered option. Plus Dental and Vision Insurance!

    πŸ€“ Learning & Growth stipend

🏠 Flexible long-term work options (remote and hybrid)

    About the role

At Trunk Tools, we’re the leading AI company revolutionizing construction: the second-largest industry on Earth. We’re a hyper-growth Series B startup backed by $70M from top investors like Insight Partners, Redpoint, and Innovation Endeavors, with deep traction among Fortune 500 general contractors.

Our mission is to automate the construction industry through intelligent, jobsite-ready AI. After years building the “brain” of construction, we’re now deploying AI agents to eliminate manual work and enable smarter decisions across critical workflows.

The Support Specialist role ensures that customers get the most out of Trunk Tools from day one. You’ll be the go-to problem solver for field teams and end users, helping them configure, troubleshoot, and adopt AI solutions in their daily workflows. This is a hands-on role that blends technical curiosity with customer empathy — making sure our customers not only use Trunk Tools but succeed with it.

    What You'll Be Doing

Customer Support & Troubleshooting: Act as the frontline contact for customer inquiries, resolving issues quickly and effectively across chat, email, and video support.

Implementation Assistance: Guide customers through onboarding, setup, and configuration of AI agents and workflows.

Enablement & Training: Run product demos, answer “how-to” questions, and empower users to self-serve through documentation and training resources.

Feedback & Advocacy: Collect user feedback, identify recurring issues, and communicate insights to Product and Engineering teams to improve our tools.

Knowledge Building: Maintain support documentation, FAQs, and internal knowledge bases to scale customer success.

Metrics & Reporting: Track key support metrics (e.g., response time, resolution time, customer satisfaction) and surface trends for continuous improvement.

    Qualifications

2–4 years of experience in customer support, technical support, or customer-facing operations, ideally in SaaS or construction tech.

Strong problem-solving skills and comfort troubleshooting software issues in real time.

Excellent communication skills — able to explain technical concepts to both field superintendents and office executives.

Technical curiosity: you’re comfortable learning cloud-based tools, APIs, and AI-driven workflows.

Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple support tickets and requests simultaneously.

Experience in construction tech, field training, or AI tools is a plus.

    What We Value

Customer empathy: You genuinely care about solving problems and making users successful.

Responsiveness: You move fast, prioritize well, and ensure customers are never left hanging.

Proactivity & ownership: You don’t just react — you anticipate issues and create solutions.

Clarity: You can simplify complexity and make technology approachable

Builder mindset: You enjoy creating scalable resources and processes that raise the bar for the whole team.

    What we offer

πŸŽ–οΈ A close-knit and collaborative early-stage startup environment where every voice is heard and every opinion matters

    About the Role
We’re looking for a seasoned Senior Product Designer to help shape the future of AI-driven construction software. You’ll join a small, fast-moving product team working at the intersection of real-world construction workflows, AI/ML, and next-gen UX/UI design. If you thrive designing elegant systems for complex operational problems, we want to hear from you.

You’ll Excel in this Role if You:

Have deep experience designing for complex real-world workflows, especially those involving physical coordination, compliance, or document-heavy processes (think construction, logistics, or finance).

Are comfortable working with ambiguous requirements and iterating fast with PMs, engineers, and subject matter experts.

Know how to translate gnarly process logic into beautiful, usable interfaces that make users feel empowered, not overwhelmed.

Bring strong systems thinking to your work: you know when to create one-offs and when to create reusable, scalable patterns.

Can confidently collaborate with engineers, and have hands-on experience implementing designs with HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks. (Bonus: you’ve experimented with LLM/AI-powered interfaces and can “vibecode” a polished demo prototype when needed).

Have helped shape and maintain design systems and component libraries that scale across teams and features.

Understand the stakes of enterprise product design; whether you're working on Submittal workflows, RFI research tools, or a better way to display and interact with a complex knowledge graph, you're always aware of what the end-user is trying to do in the real world.

    What You’ll Do

Design and iterate on core product features and (micro)interactions from initial concepts and wireframes to high-fidelity designs and handoff

Construction/contech experience. Maybe you’ve worked with BIM, construction project management tools like Procore or ACC, or have a background designing for field-first industries.

A portfolio that shows clarity of thought, strong visual polish, and a demonstrated ability to reduce complexity through structure, not simplification.

Familiarity with tools like Lovable, Cursor, Claude/ChatGPT, Storybook, and GitHub

A willingness to push into early product territory: wireframing from zero, aligning cross-functional thinking, and proposing design directions before the roadmap is locked.

    What we offer

πŸŽ–οΈ A close-knit and collaborative early-stage startup environment where every voice is heard and every opinion matters

💰 Competitive salary and stock option equity packages

What you will do and achieve:

Design, develop and maintain robust file processing pipeline infrastructure

Orchestrate the flow of data through various stages of processing

Ensure observability and monitoring of the pipeline’s health

Integrate data from various sources including industry storage platforms, project management tools, and external APIs

Implement data quality checks and error handling mechanisms to ensure data integrity

Collaborate with the machine learning team to enhance pipeline functionality and efficiency

    Who you are:

BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

5+ years of experience in ETL development and data engineering

Strong coding proficiency in Python and database systems (SQL, noSQL)

Strong experience with pipeline orchestration tools (eg. Prefect), infrastructure-as-code (eg. Terraform), and observability and monitoring tools

Understanding of serverless architectures (eg. AWS Lambda)

Familiarity with ML workflows and requirements (to effectively collaborate with the ML team)

Knowledge of data modeling and data warehouse concepts

    Interest in the construction industry

If you're passionate about building robust data pipelines that will power the future of construction automation, we want to hear from you!

🏠 Flexible long-term work options (remote and hybrid)

πŸ₯¨ Free lunch provided in the office in NYC & Austin - you’ll never go hungry with us!

πŸ›« Unlimited PTO; We truly believe in work-life balance and that hard work should be balanced with time for rest and rejuvenation

🏝 IRL / In-Person retreats throughout the year
