Position Purpose:
Exceptional opportunity for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support our vision and serve with us as a compassionate and transforming healing presence in our community. We seek exceptional individuals from a variety of backgrounds, because diversity makes us stronger.
The PCA, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.
Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. The PCA assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
The Intensive Care Unit at Chelsea is a six bed adult unit caring for patients that are critically ill medical-surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring, invasive/non-invasive ventilation, and drips.
Shifts Available: Day Shift - 7am-5:30pm - two shifts per week
Status Available: Part time, benefit eligible (40 hours per pay period - every two weeks)
Every 3rd Weekend and holiday rotation required
Required Qualifications
* High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age.
* Patient Care experience in a hospital environment preferred
* Recent experience desired.
* Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, lifting greater than 35 pounds using mechanical assistance

As a Physical Therapist at MercyOne, you will:
* Provide quality care to a variety of patients in a caring, professional and efficient manner
* Evaluate the patient's condition and develop, implement and coordinate a customized physical rehabilitation plan to enhance strength, flexibility, range of motion, motor control, skin integrity, balance, and functional mobility skills, with associated equipment as needed, as well as reduce pain and discomfort and prevent secondary impairments in neonatal, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations
* Complete necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner
* Supervise clinical interns in and effective and professional manner
* Supervise supportive staff effectively as required by Iowa and Illinois professional practice acts
Schedule:
* 9:00am - 5:30pm
* 20 hours a week
* Occasional weekends
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
* Iowa state Physical Therapist license
* Basic Life Support within 6 months of employment
* No experience required

General Responsibilities:
* Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, and as instructed by your supervisors. Follow work assignments, and/or work schedules in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
* Supports the admission, transfer, and discharge process for the Resident.
* Assist Elders with daily living functions such as dental care, feeding, bathing, dressing/undressing, nail care, hair care, and shaving according to expressed preference.
* Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
* Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed. Provide daily Range of Motion Exercises. Record data as instructed. Answer Resident calls promptly.
* Follow established safety precautions in the performance of all duties (i.e., exposure to body fluids, lifting, transferring, use and disposal of personal protective equipment).
* Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., gait belt, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving residents in accordance with plan of care.
Minimum Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Must possess a current, unencumbered, active certification to practice as a Nursing Assistant in this state or certificate of completion of state approved nurse aide training program.
* Minimum of one-year experience within a healthcare setting preferred.
* Previous experience working in long-term care or with the geriatric population preferred.
* Must possess superior customer service skills and professionalism.
* Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to adapt to ongoing change and work in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment.
