GENERAL SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/work with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Performs basic lab tests.Performs EKG’s.Assists with X-ray and physician therapy procedures.Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.Change dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures.Uses CPR skills when necessary.Prepares accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.Opens office in the morning and closes in the afternoon.Assist in maintaining patient logs for the following: Lab requests, CT scans and other treatment orders for the patients.Maintains prescription ledger when needed.Ensures the back office has good flow, keeps rooms full and assists with room turnover.Performs new patient thorough work-up (x-rays, vitals, new patient packet explanation).Adds medical history on all new patients and updates all established patients’ history in accurately.Performs accurate and complete room set-up for physician.Ensures that all patients medication is updated before physician visit.Handles set-up for in office surgical procedures.Ensures appropriate consent form is completed correctly avoiding the use of too many medical abbreviations within the consent forms.Scribe as assigned per physician office flow.Prepares for seeing patients the following day, including patient confirmation for next day visit.Completes patient medical record requests when necessary.Assists in the orientation and training of new personnel.Ensures proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed.Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly. The Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the surgical team and provides quality care to our patients. Care is rendered by providing and controlling the sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment required during surgical intervention. The Patient Navigator RN will assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of nursing care in accordance with facility, department, and professional nursing practice. The Navigator will be responsible for helping patients to understand their diagnosis, coordinate their treatment plans, and communicate with providers and staff. Using a combination of communication strategies, resources, and tools, the Navigator will assist patients to anticipate, identify, and achieve effective steps through the various treatment options available.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Guides patients and families through their healthcare experience, answers questions, provides education and helps them understand their diagnosis and treatment options.Follows patients from date of diagnosis through the completion of the care-path to ensure all treatment options are explored.Reviews prior patient history and provides updated information in the medical record in an appropriate time frame.Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members, internal and external.Communicates problems with workflow, failure to understand directions or procedures, conflicts and other concerns encountered to the manager or director of clinical services.Collaborates with surgical scheduling department regarding patient preparation, required clearances, review and reporting of abnormal pretesting results and complex issues relating to the procedure.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and particpating in professional societies.Performs other position related duties as assigned.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
RN License and certification as required by state.BLS certification required.KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. BSN preferred.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of urological services, performs work as required and functions as an effective member of the interdisciplinary team. The Medical Assistant is tasked to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical offices running smoothly. This position collaborates/work with staff within their practice or other professional disciplines within the affiliated medical groups as needed to achieve effective and efficient patient care delivery and the desired patient outcomes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The Medical Assistant will perform various administrative and clinical duties under the direction of their assigned direct supervisor.The Medical Assistant will consistently confer with physicians, nursing, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule appointments of patients.Greets and prepare patients.Measures and records vital signs.Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint.Provides patient education with regards to medications, management of diseases, home treatments and special diets.Prepares patients for examinations and performs routing screening tests.Assists physicians with exams.Performs phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens. Performs basic lab tests.Performs EKG’s.Assists with X-ray and physician therapy procedures.Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization.Change dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures.Uses CPR skills when necessary.Prepares accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.Opens office in the morning and closes in the afternoon.Assist in maintaining patient logs for the following: Lab requests, CT scans and other treatment orders for the patients.Maintains prescription ledger when needed.Ensures the back office has good flow, keeps rooms full and assists with room turnover.Performs new patient thorough work-up (x-rays, vitals, new patient packet explanation).Adds medical history on all new patients and updates all established patients’ history in accurately.Performs accurate and complete room set-up for physician.Ensures that all patients medication is updated before physician visit.Handles set-up for in office surgical procedures.Ensures appropriate consent form is completed correctly avoiding the use of too many medical abbreviations within the consent forms.Scribe as assigned per physician office flow.Prepares for seeing patients the following day, including patient confirmation for next day visit.Completes patient medical record requests when necessary.Assists in the orientation and training of new personnel.Ensures proper hand off of responsibilities once their task is completed.Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly.
