Tri City Truck Parts Co is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Parts Counterman to join our team. This role is responsible for assisting customers with identifying, quoting, and selling heavy-duty truck parts while providing exceptional service to fleets, repair shops, mechanics, and walk-in customers. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of commercial truck components, excellent communication skills, and the ability to quickly locate the correct parts using catalogs, manufacturer resources, and inventory systems.
The Parts Counterman will be a key resource for customers by helping them find the right solutions to keep trucks on the road, from routine maintenance items to complex drivetrain and engine components.
Key Responsibilities
Assist customers at the parts counter, over the phone, and through email with parts inquiries and ordersIdentify heavy-duty truck parts based on vehicle information, VIN numbers, part numbers, diagrams, and customer descriptionsProvide accurate quotes, availability information, and delivery timelinesResearch and source OEM, aftermarket, and remanufactured truck partsProcess sales orders, invoices, returns, and warranty claims accuratelyDevelop strong relationships with customers including trucking companies, fleet managers, repair facilities, and techniciansRecommend alternative parts and solutions when original parts are unavailableMaintain knowledge of heavy-duty truck systems including:TransmissionsTransfer casesDifferentials and rear endsClutchesPTOsEngine componentsExhaust systemsSteering componentsPumps and drivetrain partsElectrical and cooling componentsWork closely with warehouse staff to ensure accurate picking and fulfillment of ordersMaintain organized parts displays and counter areasAssist with inventory checks and special-order requestsProvide exceptional customer service while handling multiple requests in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Parts Counterperson, Parts Specialist, or similar automotive/heavy-duty truck parts role preferredKnowledge of commercial trucks, diesel engines, and heavy-duty components strongly preferredAbility to identify parts using catalogs, online systems, and technical resourcesStrong attention to detail with excellent organizational skillsAbility to multitask and prioritize customer needsComfortable communicating with mechanics, technicians, drivers, and business ownersBasic computer skills and experience using parts lookup systemsStrong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learnPreferred Experience
Heavy-duty truck parts salesDiesel repair shop experienceFleet maintenance experienceDealership or aftermarket parts experienceKnowledge of manufacturers such as Detroit, Cummins, Caterpillar, Mack, International, Eaton, and similar brands
