    As a PCICU Nurse, you will provide critical care to pediatric patients with congenital or acquired heart conditions, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-level care, monitor cardiovascular status, and support families through difficult times.

    As a PCICU Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
    Patient Care: Provide direct care to pediatric patients with cardiovascular conditions, including those recovering from heart surgery, congenital heart defects, or severe arrhythmias Monitoring & Assessment: Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and other critical parameters. Assess patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately Medication Administration: Administer medications (including IV drips, blood products, and sedatives) according to protocol, monitor for side effects, and adjust dosages as needed Ventilator Management: Assist with ventilator management, including non-invasive and invasive respiratory support, and ensure proper airway management Cardiac Interventions: Assist with procedures like intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), external pacemakers, or ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) as directed by the cardiology team Family Communication: Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients' families, updating them on their child's condition, care plan, and prognosis. Offer emotional support and education to family members Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to cardiac and respiratory emergencies, including code situations and rapid interventions in acute cardiovascular distress Collaboration: Work alongside pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals in a collaborative environment to provide comprehensive care Documentation: Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, changes in condition, and family interactions in the electronic health record (EHR) Patient Education: Educate families and caregivers on post-operative care, recovery expectations, and signs of complications that may require attention
