Where is the work: On-Site (5 days) What you will do: As a Commercial Service Technician Apprentice, you will be dispatched from your house to different locations in and around the area to perform scheduled (and unscheduled) preventative maintenance, inspections, site surveys, and service requests for a variety of commercial and industrial equipment. You'll enjoy a variety in your daily duties which could include: * Start-up and commissioning of our Trane controls and HVAC equipment * Troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing commercial HVAC equipment such as split systems, package units, and chillers and/or ancillary supporting components such as pumps, cooling towers, etc. * Troubleshooting and repairing building control systems; optimizing controls and equipment for better usage by owner * Performing replacements and modifications of HVAC equipment or systems as needed or requested What you will bring: * A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience * 2+ years of experience servicing, troubleshooting and maintaining commercial HVAC equipment * Operating knowledge of Microsoft office and comfortable with hand-held devices (i.e. Smartphone, iPad) * A valid driver's license, with no major or frequent traffic violations * EPA Certification Preferred * Ability to work on-call rotation and/or overtime to support the business, including occasional overnight stays Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure * Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt * Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties * Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction * Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands * Must be able to reach your hands over your head * Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours * This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs. and frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Essential Job Functions * Perform repetitive progressive line assembly of parts, and sub-assemblies on any line within the plant, in accordance with predetermined DFT methods and sequences. * Tasks can include but are not limited to: brazing, soldering, operating machines and presses, hanging and unhanging parts, and performing quality checks and tests. * Read, understand, and apply method sheets and assembly diagrams, in addition to following verbal (written and oral) directions. * Use methods of perception/ senses (sight, hearing, smell) to detect quality defects and unsafe conditions. * Be knowledgeable, follow, and understand all applicable safety rules and procedures. * Read print drawings to determine dimensions, design, and materials for construction. * Operate power pneumatic and hand tools required for performing job duties. * Effectively use measuring devices such as tape measures and levels. * Load and unload units onto conveyors and carts. * Read, learn and follow OMSs for construction. * Maintain and inspect tools and equipment, and create work orders for tools/equipment to be repaired as needed. * Supports the QMS by delivering quality products and services and meeting quality objectives. * Works to consistently meet and exceed customer requirements. * Continuously strives for and participates in operational excellence and continuous improvement. * Work in a team environment and assist co-workers in other areas as needed/directed. * Perform general housekeeping of the work area. * Suggest process improvement ideas. * All other duties as assigned by the supervisor/team leader.
