    Job Title: Assistant Controller

    Company Overview:
    Major company is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing and overseeing the financial operations and reporting processes of the company. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in accounting, systems proficiency, and leadership experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Manage general ledger accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing.Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis.Assist with the preparation and filing of all tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, and other local or federal filings.Coordinate internal and external audits and assist with the implementation of any necessary changes.Ensure the proper documentation of financial transactions and maintain an effective system of internal controls.Reconcile balance sheet accounts and perform account analysis and reporting.Ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.Collaborate with other departments to ensure the timely and accurate flow of financial information.Contribute to system enhancements and process improvements, specifically with Great Plains.

    Qualifications:

    5+ years of experience as an Assistant Controller or Controller in a corporate setting.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.Proficiency with financial systems, specifically Great Plains (preferred).Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Read Less

This individual will lead finance, accounting, legal, IT, and administrative functions, while supporting executive decision-making and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Management & Oversight

    Sign all entity checks and authorize wire transfers.

    Provide final approval of all AVID invoices for payment.

    Oversee cash management across the organization, ensuring liquidity and strategic use of capital.

    Monitor and manage distributions to stakeholders.

    Interact with mortgagees and lenders, managing loan covenants and reporting requirements.

    Portfolio Oversight

    Lead asset management functions, including leasing strategy, capital expenditure planning, and landlord/tenant (L&T) issue resolution.

    Review and approve all new retail leases prior to issuance to prospective tenants.

    Sign all residential leases, lease renewals, and legacy retail leases.

    Legal, Compliance & Insurance

    Oversee and coordinate with legal counsel on all residential and retail legal cases.

    Serve as a notary for all office documents.

    Act as the point person for company health insurance, including plan management and renewals.

    IT & Administrative Leadership

    Approve all IT-related purchases and solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and cybersecurity standards.

    Monitor employee attendance and enforce HR policies in collaboration with HR leadership.

    Provide oversight of payroll processes across all building operations.

    Strategic Leadership

    Work closely with the executive team on long-term financial planning, investment strategy, and business development initiatives.

    Analyze and present financial reports to ownership and board members.

    Develop and maintain internal controls, budgeting processes, and financial policies.

    Evaluate service needs, assess repair scope, and communicate with residents regarding status and timelines.

    Source vendor bids, supervise contracted work, inspect completed jobs, and review invoices for accuracy.

    Report potential code violations or hazards to management, with recommended corrective actions.

    Lead and manage building staff, including scheduling, task delegation, and performance oversight.

    Maintain clear communication among staff and ensure adherence to reporting structures and procedures.

     

    Salary: $90,000 to $125,000 + 3 bedroom apartment
