    LOCATION: This position will be primarily serving our South Carolina and Georgia clients. Travel to our clients and office locations will be required. Occasional travel to our Lexington, NC office will be required.


    SUMMARY: Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install, and commission Building Automation Systems (BAS) and related equipment as assigned in a timely, high- quality manner. Conduct work with highest level of professionalism, build client, coworker, and outside contact relationships, and offer solutions to clients.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Technician

    Troubleshoot/repair, service, and perform preventative maintenance on existing BAS equipment in a timely and quality mannerPerform Building Automation System integrations Install and program Building Automation SystemsGenerate custom graphical interface for new and existing controls systems as requiredContinued technical training (classroom, OJT and personal studies) in order to improve technical abilities. This will be monitored and discussed during each review for improvement.Demonstrate capability of handling a heavy workload of calls.Maintain a high level of professionalism by arriving to work on time, maintaining a neat physical appearance and work vehicle in clean working orderPresent a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers and co-workersOrganize all work detail (work performed, service recommendations, purchase order numbers for material purchased, etc.) and complete an accurate work ticket for billing & payroll purposes.Submit accurate and complete start-up and checkout Sheets in a timely mannerPromote new business by reporting leadsExercise effective communication with the customer and co-workersBuild rapport and positive working relationships with clients, vendors, and other outside contactsFully utilize technology to enhance performance (email, internet usage, etc)Work with other Technicians by sharing knowledge and experience.     KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimum of 2 years of experience programming building automation systems (BAS) and integrating with third party equipmentWorking knowledge of PCs and computer networkingOrganization and time management skills.Problem solving skills.Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings and schematicsWill have available the tools necessary to accomplish the work of a Level 3.Use proper tools and instruments for troubleshooting.Extensive knowledge in safe work habits.Experience with managing agreements and quoted jobs to the margins and standards at which they were sold.Excellent communication skills.Ability to work in a team environment.Ability to pass fit-for-duty evaluations as required for contract requirements.


    TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENT

    Industry-specific knowledge gained from working in the field:

    Knowledge/experience using a voltmeter, ohmmeter, and ammeter.Knowledge of basic electrical troubleshootingExperience understanding airflow standards, measurements, and instruments.Some knowledge of air balance with a BalometerPossess a technical knowledge and experience level to troubleshoot, repair and maintain BAS systems unsupervised.     SUMMARY

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Technician

    Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot/repair HVAC equipment in a timely and quality manner. Continued technical training (classroom, OJT and personal studies) in order to meet the responsibilities of a technician. This will be monitored and discussed during each review for improvement. Demonstrate capability of handling a heavy workload of calls. Maintain a high level of professionalism by arriving at work on time, maintaining a neat physical appearance and work vehicle in clean working order. Present a professional, positive and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers and co-workers. Organize all work details (work performed, service recommendations, purchase order numbers for material purchased, etc.) and complete an accurate work ticket for billing & payroll purposes. Submit accurate and complete Start-up Sheets in a timely manner. Submit accurate and complete Refrigerant Tracking Logs in a timely manner. Promote new business by reporting leads. Exercise effective communication with the customer and co-workers by using the LINC Communication Model Build rapport and positive working relationships with clients, vendors, and other outside contacts. Fully utilize technology to enhance performance (email, internet usage, VB Mobile) Work with other Technicians by sharing knowledge and experience. Ability to mentor apprentice level technicians Service Technician will continue the on-call rotation and will be available nights and weekends on the weeks he pulls on-call.     KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Two-Year Technical Degree or 4 – year apprenticeship from accredited HVAC institution with 1 to 2 years of experience, HVAC Certificate from accredited HVAC institution with 6+ years of experience, or equivalent work experience. Organization and time management skills. Problem solving skills. Will have available the tools necessary to accomplish the work of a Service Technician. Use proper tools and instruments for troubleshooting. Extensive knowledge of safe work habits. Experience with managing agreements and quoted jobs to the margins and standards at which they were sold. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to pass fit-for-duty evaluations as required for contract requirements.


    TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENT

    Industry-specific knowledge gained from working in the field:

    Knowledge/experience using a vacuum pump and micron gauge. Knowledge/experience properly using a recovery machine. Knowledge/experience using an electronic leak detector. Knowledge/experience using a voltmeter, ohmmeter, and ammeter. Use proper refrigerant charging techniques including superheat and subcooling. Knowledge/experience of measuring and setting gas pressures on various types of natural gas systems. Experience understanding airflow standards, measurements, and instruments. Show evidence of proper maintenance execution on package units, split systems, air cooled chillers and cooling towers. Accomplish all Level of Apprentice and Junior Service Technician responsibilities and duties. Possess a technical knowledge and experience level to troubleshoot, repair and maintain HVAC mechanical systems unsupervised. This includes, but not limited to, roof top package units and split systems, air- and water-cooled chilled water systems (with support), exhaust fans, pumps, and motors.

    SUMMARY

    If you are a Commercial HVAC Project Technician, with more than 6+ years’ experience, and are looking to join a great team that delivers exceptional customer service, then Total Comfort Solutions is the place for you! Your advanced knowledge and/or experience of BAS systems for use in building comfort, diagnostic and energy saving initiatives will be looked upon to lead our service team members to provide quality dedicated service to our TCS clients while living out our TCS Core Values.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Lead Technician (includes all responsibilities in the Senior Technician role)

    Demonstrate capability of handling a heavy workload of calls. Keep technical knowledge and ability up-to-date regarding commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. Search out and read applicable manuals and online sources to strengthen proper maintenance and repair procedures. Submit accurate and complete Start-up Sheets in a timely manner.

    Senior Technician

    Possess a technical knowledge and experience level to troubleshoot, repair and maintain most advanced HVAC mechanical systems in a timely manner. Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot/repair HVAC equipment in a timely and quality manner. Experience using the proper tools and instruments for more advanced diagnostic troubleshooting. Maintain a high level of professionalism by arriving at work on time, maintaining a neat physical appearance and work vehicle in clean working order. Present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude always when interacting with customers and co-workers. Organize all work details (work performed, service recommendations, purchase order numbers for material purchased, etc.) and complete an accurate work ticket for billing & payroll purposes. Lead a new agreement Start-up inspection and submit effective start-up sheets with pictures in a timely manner. Submit accurate and complete Refrigerant Tracking Logs in a timely manner. Promote new business by reporting leads. Exercise effective communication with the customer and co-workers by using the LINC Communication Model Build rapport and positive working relationships with clients, vendors, and other outside contacts. Fully utilize technology to enhance performance (email, internet usage, VB Mobile) Work with other Technicians by sharing knowledge and experience. This could be of a technical nature or specific issues related to the facility. Demonstrate the Total Comfort Solutions values daily. Service Technician will continue the on-call rotation and will be available nights and weekends on the weeks he pulls on-call.

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

    HVAC Certificate from accredited HVAC institution with 10+ years of experience, or equivalent work experience. Proficient in and an advocate for soft skills. Team player and leader. Ability to mentor Apprentice to a Senior Technician.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

    Two-Year Technical Degree or 4 year - apprenticeship from accredited HVAC institution with 1 to 2 years of experience. HVAC Certificate from accredited HVAC institution with 5 to 9 years of experience, or equivalent work experience. Organization and time management skills. Problem solving skills. Extensive knowledge of safe work habits. Will have available tools necessary to accomplish the work of a Senior Technician. Experience with managing agreements and quoted jobs to the margins and standards at which they were sold. Good communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to mentor an Apprentice to a Technician. Ability to pass fit-for-duty evaluations as required for contract requirements.

    PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

    Industry-specific knowledge gained from working in the field:

    Advanced knowledge /experience of BAS systems for use in building comfort, diagnostic and energy saving initiatives. Perform routine diagnosis and repair of chillers air cooled and water cooled, without assistance. Routine diagnosis of cooling towers and pumps. Advanced understanding in hydronics and pump theory. Routine diagnosis and repair server room and other critical equipment. Routine diagnosis and repair various boiler types and application. Advanced knowledge/experience with variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems. Advanced knowledge / Experience in reading blueprints and wiring schematics for the use in mapping a facility and trouble shooting. Advanced knowledge / experience with “built-up” systems. Extensive knowledge in electrical troubleshooting and safety. Master Apprentice to Senior Technician responsibilities and duties. Ability to make all duct applications. Ability to weld large duct work with several pieces of metal. Ability to use heavier gauges that may take several pieces of metal, figure air changes for clean rooms, and trouble shoot most all air flow problems.

    TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENT

    Industry-specific knowledge gained from working in the field:

    Knowledge /experience of BAS systems for use in building comfort, diagnostic and energy saving initiatives. Remove and replace chillers with minimal assistance. Air Cooled. Water cooled (supervised). Remove and replace cooling towers and pumps. Understanding in hydronics and pump theory. Remove and replace server room and other critical equipment. Liebert Data Aire Aaon Remove and replace various boiler types and applications. Knowledge / Experience in reading blueprints and wiring schematics for the use in mapping a facility. Extensive knowledge of electrical safety. Identify, install and repair different types of piping applications. Identify and install diverse types of valves. Master Apprentice to Technician responsibilities and duties. Possess a technical knowledge and experience level to remove and replace HVAC mechanical systems in a timely manner. This includes, but not limited to, roof top package units, split systems, air- and water-cooled chilled water systems, exhaust fans, pumps, and motors. Ability to make most duct applications. Ability to layout and size all duct systems, trouble shoot duct problems and epitomize air balance. Ability to figure air changes per hour of areas.
