    Location: Newton, MA (On-Site/Field-Based)

     

    Tom Curren Companies is a long-established residential remodeling and home improvement company serving Metro-West and Greater Boston homeowners for nearly 40 years. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Residential Construction (Carpentry Focus) to lead carpentry and interior/exterior painting projects from post-sale through completion. This role is critical to delivering high-quality projects, protecting profitability, and providing an exceptional customer experience.

    The Project Manager oversees residential carpentry and painting projects by coordinating subcontracted crews, validating scope, managing timelines, controlling costs, and ensuring customer satisfaction from project kickoff through final payment. This role serves as the primary owner of the client experience and subcontractor relationship during production and works closely with sales, design, and resource planning teams to ensure projects are delivered exactly as promised.

     

    Responsibilities

    Evaluate carpentry and painting projects from estimating through production, including scope, pricing, timelines, subcontractors, materials, and laborDirect subcontracted carpentry and painting crews to execute projects safely, on time, and in alignment with financial goalsAssess job sites to validate the original remodeling agreement and identify risks, changes, or efficienciesCoordinate with the Resource Planning Manager on material ordering, receiving, reconciliation, and returnsSupport sales and crew leaders with change orders and scope adjustmentsManage procurement and material selection to protect company margins and quality standardsEnsure compliance with licensing, permitting, HOA requirements, and local/state regulationsIndependently work with municipalities to secure required permitsConduct subcontractor meetings covering best practices, safety, and company processesMaintain consistent documentation and communication to support final billing and collection

     

    Qualifications

    10 or more years of hands-on residential carpentry experience, including: Building envelope repairs and replacements, Decks, windows, siding, and exterior carpentry, and Interior/exterior paint and finish workMassachusetts CSL is in good standingExperience managing subcontractorsGeneral technology proficiency (computer, iPad, smartphone)Valid driver's licenseAbility to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally and climb ladders up to 40 ftExperience in estimating, negotiating, and selling high-end change ordersStrong scheduling, planning, and multi-project management capabilityFinancial literacy and the ability to analyze project costs and performanceExcellent organization, problem-solving, and time-management skillsStrong client-facing communication and professionalismFluent in written and spoken EnglishComputer proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Gmail; Zoho CRM a plus)Ability to provide own basic carpenter toolsPersonal vehicle capable of transporting construction materialsAuthorized to work in the United States

     

    Compensation

    Stable, full-time role with an established companyBase salary: $90,000 - $150,000 based on experiencePaid time off and benefits packageMonday to Friday schedule (occasional evening/weekend coverage, not routine)Growth and leadership opportunities as the company continues to expand

    The Senior Project Manager - Remodeling Division is responsible for the on-site leadership of residential remodeling and carpentry projects and reports directly to the Vice President of Production. This position owns coordination of job specifications, plans, schedules, materials, change orders, subcontractors, and client communications, ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards.


    Key Responsibilities

    Serve as on-site manager for residential remodeling and carpentry projectsCoordinate project plans, schedules, materials, subcontractors, and change ordersSupervise subcontracted labor, ensuring quality workmanship, safety, and adherence to timelinesInventory materials prior to job start; coordinate deliveries and manage delays impacting schedulesParticipate in pre-construction meetings, quality control reviews, and client communicationsMaintain the safety and security of residential job sites through project completionManage daily, high-volume communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams via phone, email, and textCreate subcontractor purchase orders and agreementsEnsure accurate submission and reconciliation of subcontractor invoices and receiptsOversee warranty items, punch lists, and resolution through completionCollaborate with customer service and production teams to resolve issues quickly and professionallyTrack and understand the financial impact of production decisions on the businessAttend Production team meetings to provide updates on job progress, schedules, and risks.



    Qualifications
