    Position Summary:

    Incumbent provides comprehensive nursing care to acutely ill medical, obstetric, and pediatric patients of the Tohono O'odham Nation Health Care Sells Hospital.

    Scope of Work: This position is within the Tohono O'odham Nation Health Care at the Sells Hospital in the Division of Nursing Services as assigned. This position involves providing direct care to patients in hospitals. In addition, the employee is assigned to the inpatient unit and works under the general supervision of the Supervisory Clinical Nurse.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Depending on the area of assignment, an incumbent may not be required to perform some of the duties listed below):

    Under the Supervisory Nurse Specialist's direction, the RN provides comprehensive nursing care to acutely ill and long-term or medical, obstetric, and pediatric patients.Observes patients ' changing conditions to formulate and update plans for care consistent with recognized nursing standards and in accordance with prescribed medical treatments.Record all patient care in the electronic health record and other data relevant to the patient's care accurately, efficiently, and timely.Share all appropriate clinical measures, pertinent patient information with the inpatient care team.Consult with Charge RN or provider on all unusual findings to determine an appropriate plan of care.Interpret data obtained from observations, examinations, monitored findings, and lab values.Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and provides appropriate care interventions established by licensure, standards of practice, and clinic Proactive in communicating with the multidisciplinary care team members in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care needs.Administer prescribed oral medications, hypodermic injections, Intravenous (IV) fluid, blood transfusions, and oxygen therapy.Performs intravenous cannula insertion for IV therapy and venipuncture for blood draws.Prepares, administers, and monitors prescribed IV medications, utilizing the regulatory infusion pumps as appropriate.Supervises the serving of meals and nourishments and ensures that dietary needs are met for each patient.Perform nursing procedures such as nasal-pharyngeal and gastric suction, the insertion of an NG tube, urinary catheterization, chest physical therapy, non-stress test, fetal monitoring, Ensure patient data collection and documentation, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, intake and output, medication effects, and subjective and objective symptoms.As appropriate, report all pertinent information to the Medical Officer, Charge Nurse, Nurse Specialist, and inpatient Nursing Coordinator.Supervise the preparation of patients for tests, examinations, treatments, and surgery.Prepares and reviews records for completeness and performs necessary patient teaching.Utilizes diversified professional concepts and practices while performing procedures, treatments, and tasks related to specialty areas, such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, pediatrics, urology, neurology, hematology, oncology, Ensure consults and referrals follow through a system for approval and appointments are scheduled in a timely manner.Participates in discharge planning by assessing patient needs, making necessary referrals, and involving the family in the process.Complies and Participates with mandatory educational programs, unit in-services, and staff meetings.Participates in committees such as infection control, quality council, and safety as assigned.Performs other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions.Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures applied to ambulatory Care and the Inpatient Department.Knowledge and experience in anatomy and physiology, basic pathophysiology, and the ability to work independently in completing nursing care assignments. Skill and ability to utilize a standardized body of knowledge to provide patient care for the critically ill; pre-natal; post-partum; pediatric; internal medicine; and other patients.     Minimum Qualifications:

    Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State Accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

    Licenses, Certifications, Special Requirements:

    Position Summary:

    The incumbent is responsible for administering the Purchased/Referred Care (PRC) program. Responsibilities include allocating PRC funds and alternate healthcare resources to provide complete comprehensive health services for Tohono O'odham Nation Health Care's user population.

    Scope of Work:

    This position is located within Tohono O'odham Nation Health Care's Purchased Referred Care (PRC) Branch or Administrative Office. It may be situated organizationally and duty stationed at any TONHC facilities: Sells Hospital, Santa Rosa Health Center, San Simon Health Center, and San Xavier Health Center.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Depending on the area of assignment, an incumbent may not be required to perform some of the duties listed below):

    Maintains collaborative measures with the clinical teams to assure initial and process follow-up patient referrals according to the current PRC mapping process for the health care facility.Responsible for determining patient eligibility, scope, and priority for the PRC program.Responsible for entering necessary referrals into the RCIS system.Assists patients in the scheduling of referred appointments.Provide education to patients on special instructions for referred visits.Follows up on referred visits scheduled to ensure the referring facility receives the visit records.Follows up with patients after referred visits to coordinate follow-up primary care visits as necessary.Respond to PRC inquiries and requests for PRC assistance from the clinic staff and patients.Respond to inquiries and requests within the TONHC Healthcare facilities, including medical, social service, dental, and private sector health resources regarding PRC referral status.Responsible for implementing decisions made for the provision or denial of services.Responsible for effective and maximum utilization of PRC funds and maintaining a follow-up system that will assure adequate funds are set aside for all authorized referrals, emergency notifications, and follow-up care referrals per policy and clinic mapping process.Assures obligation of all funds by the end of the funding period.Assures the cancellation of all unused obligations on a timely basis.Assures all outstanding authorizations over 30 days old are valid.Assures authorizations are only processed when funds are available.Assures transactions affecting funds are promptly processed; this includes obligations, disbursements, cancellations, reconciliation, and recording allocations.Assures effective communication with fiscal intermediaries and Finance, responding to all pending claims.Maintains the Nation's commitment to registering for PRC funds for medical and dental services.Responsible for maintaining a register for all requests for additional funding.Compiles statistical and fiscal data reports necessary to determine funds required to meet the PRC program's needs. Prepare all PRC financial status reports, budget needs, forecasts, and other required PRC reports for the Hospital.Reconciles with Financial Management Reports and Fiscal Intermediary, keeping supervisor and Hospital and clinic staff advised on current fund status.Assist with reporting Catastrophic Health Emergency Fund (CHEF) cases. Works closely with PRC staff and medical officers to report, manage and monitor the high-cost cases funded through the CHEF program established by P.L. 100-173 Section 202.Responsible for keeping up-to-date pending and completed PRC patient files with a documented status of all written and verbal transactions.Performs periodic spot reviews and audits of completed authorization forms and other documents to ensure the consistent, correct use of allotment, object, sub-object, and sub-activity coding required.Works with Hospital and Clinic professional and para-professional staff, local providers, tribal health committees; serves as a representative at meetings to create and understand the PRC programs and promote consumer and provider satisfaction.Incumbent must know computer applications relating to the PRC Program, including the responsibility for key entering and verifying all PRC service authorization, payments, cancellations, and supplements.Responsible for adding, deleting, changing, and verifying information in both the patient file and vendor.Contribute to a team effort.Other duties as assigned.

    Scope of Work:

    Under general supervision, provides appropriate Emergency care to patients presenting to the Emergency Room involved in an injury and/or illness. Discharges patients from the Emergency Room in an orderly and safe manner. Communicates appropriately with the patient and all parties and agencies involved in the patient's care as needed, under the emergency department's Supervisory Nurse Specialist's general supervision.

    Position Summary:

    The incumbent provides comprehensive nursing care and patient services in a clinic or ambulatory care setting and assists physicians and patients.

    Scope of Work:

    This position is within the Tohono O'odham Nation Health Care, including Sells Hospital, San Xavier Health Center, Santa Rosa Health Center, and San Simon Health Center. The position involves providing direct care to patients in hospitals and clinics. The employee is assigned to the outpatient unit and works under the Supervisory Clinical Nurse's general supervision.
