    Key Responsibilities

    As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you hold a vital role in diagnosing, treating, and managing communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. Your expertise encompasses a wide range of skills aimed at improving speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing abilities.

    Here is an outline of the primary responsibilities of a Speech-Language Pathologist:

    Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders in individuals with communication impairments. Speech-Language Pathologists use standardized assessments, clinical observations, and diagnostic tools to identify the nature and severity of communication challenges and formulate accurate diagnoses. Treatment Planning and Intervention: Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs and goals of each patient. Speech-Language Pathologists design therapy sessions that incorporate evidence-based techniques and strategies to address speech production, language comprehension and expression, social communication skills, voice quality, and swallowing function. Therapeutic Interventions: Implement a variety of therapeutic interventions to improve communication and swallowing abilities. This may include articulation drills, language exercises, cognitive-communication tasks, voice therapy techniques, fluency shaping strategies, and management protocols. Speech-Language Pathologists provide personalized instruction and feedback to support skill development and functional improvement. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): Assess the need for and implement AAC systems and devices to support individuals with severe communication impairments. Speech-Language Pathologists collaborate with patients, families, and caregivers to select and customize AAC solutions that enhance communication and participation in daily activities. Dysphagia Management: Evaluate and treat swallowing disorders (dysphagia) through a combination of clinical assessments, therapeutic exercises, compensatory strategies, diet modifications, and swallowing rehabilitation techniques. Speech-Language Pathologists play a key role in ensuring safe and efficient swallowing function to prevent aspiration and improve nutritional intake.

Alert the Director of Rehab, DOR, as required. Make copies, scan, distribute, file all documentation in both charts and JBS (through Scan Snap) within the designated time frame to ensure all records are maintained accurately and are current and up-to-date.Reviews DARs, treatment grids, and other reports as assigned to ensure accuracy and completion under supervision of DOR. Attends meetings as directed by the DOR. Takes notes and communicates clearly and effectively back to the DOR and/or therapy staff all relative therapy information as needed. Completes Tech Check List (Daily, Weekly, Monthly), notifies DOR of deficient areas and files as required. Follows proper procedure for maintaining the cleanliness of the treatment and office areas. Completes weekly sanitation of all equipment as directed by the DOR. Represents the companies of TMC in a professional manner. Promotes a positive work environment and follows company core values. Develops and promotes working relationships with all company and facility staff.Completes and monitors treatment scheduler and staff scheduler; secures PRN coverage when needed as directed by the DOR. Reviews/approves time sheets daily under the direction of the DOR and in accordance with company policy. Assist with answering phones and taking messages as necessary. Check emails and distribute as necessary; ensures that All User and other company communications are distributed/or displayed for all staff to read. Completes DAR and timesheet daily. Completes assigned tasks as directed by the DOR, Area Manager and/or Regional Director. Other duties as assigned.
    Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseHigh School Diploma or GED.Demonstrate computer proficiency. Nurses’ Aide Certification or equivalent health paraprofessional training and/or one year of experience in the rehabilitation field preferred. Ability to successfully complete company Tech Coordinator training and testing. Ability to demonstrate customer service and soft skills. Ability to follow TMC Values and Mission Statement. Excellent organizational skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines within a teamwork environment. Ability to identify, communicate and resolve issues and concerns as needed. Maintain confidentiality. Ability to lift and control 50 pounds.   TMC is an equal opportunity employer.
