    Timmons Group is currently seeking Joint Use / Telecommunications Designers to join our team in Richmond, VA. The Designer monitors the work of contractors for quality control and contract compliance for roadway and utility projects. Project assignments typically involve traffic control, sensitive political or environmental concerns, project coordination with property owners, utility companies, and local county and state agencies.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

    Process attachment permits for Joint Use partners (cable television companies, telephone and telecommunications companies, local governments, private companies).Act as a liaison between Company and Joint Use partners regarding permits, inspections, rebuilds, NESC and/or RUS interpretation and Company policy.Prepare joint use related pole construction/design projects and cost estimates, notifications, CATV permits, etc.Assure proper transactions of payments and billing.Prepare and maintain files of agreements, permits, surveys, inspections, and rebuilds.Perform other duties as requested or assigned (ex. Non-Joint Use Design work)Ability to work both in an office environment and in the field 

    Skills/Requirements of a successful candidate include but are not limited to:

    High school diploma or equivalentWorking knowledge of distribution design and construction, estimating and NESC and/or RUS codes preferred.Working knowledge of cable television, telephone and telecommunication companies' operations and interaction with electric utilities preferred.Knowledge of Joint Use design software and assembly codes preferred – ArcFM, Partner, Mapwise, PoleForeman, Ike Office, etc.Working knowledge of how to use computers including the use of software such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel, and Outlook Email software required.Working knowledge and experience with data conversion using ArcGIS, AutoCAD or Microstation is preferred.Ability to communicate technical information, ability to research, interpret and summarize data.Must have the ability to prioritize multiple projects from numerous departments.This individual must be highly motivated, a self-starter; flexible, detail-oriented, enjoy interacting with employees and clients; willing to work at a dynamic pace to complete tasks and meet deadlines; and share a commitment to our firm’s vision, mission, and shared values.

    Compensation: Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $52,000-$72,000. Offers are based on a range of job-related factors such as internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials and role complexity.

    Timmons Group is currently looking for a full time Outside Plant Engineer (OSP Engineer) in Richmond, VA..  The OSP Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support for outside plant network operations and maintenance with a focus on fiber-based systems The candidate should have technical experience in outside plant design and working collaboratively with other departments. 

    Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    The engineer will identify, analyze, diagnose, and resolve network issues, as well as coordinate with vendors and other personnel to ensure the successful deployment and maintenance of outside plant networksProvide leadership and direction to OSP Engineer resourcesManage and design hundreds of miles of outside plant for a major network deploymentAbility to perform low level fiber engineering using GIS technologyAbility to perform field visits and network verificationsExperience in high level network design (splice and physical plant), and detailed engineeringWork with other departments to ensure make ready management, permitting and fielding meet OSP design criteriaReview permit and construction drawings for engineering integrityBe able to review as-built plans and test resultsAbility to work in ArcGIS/Pro, or QGIS environments Maintain orderly records and project documents Working knowledge of pole line design and fiber construction, both aerial and undergroundAdditional duties and responsibilities as needed

This position can be an in-office and field combination for the right candidate.

    Provides underground utility flagging “designation” with proficiency utilizing electromagnet equipment and other geophysical meansDesignates all utility line types of conductive or non-conductive materials including water, sewer, gas, electric, fiber optic, PVC, and all other underground facilities that would affect an excavation of a siteMarks utilities with flags and/or paint and produce a sketch of results for future use by the clientMay be required to learn how to establish survey control and perform locations of utility designation markings using conventional survey equipment including robotic total stations and RTK GPS technologyOversees maintenance of survey equipment, supplies and vehicleCandidate must be able to work in a team environment, and be willing to work independently on occasion
