Assist in completing engineering changes identified through prototype and pilot runs to increase product manufacturability. Responsible for accurate, timely and complete financial statement preparation and analysis, including general knowledge of transaction flows, measurement and recording. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.
• Responsible for ensuring a complete and accurate domestic general ledger analysis
• Identifies and implements cost reductions
• Understands computer systems and information flow in a perpetual accounting system
• Responsible for the accounting department closing checklist (monthly and annual)
• Provides guidance on accounting procedures and controls
• Identifies when new general ledger accounts are needed
• Completion and analysis of monthly domestic financial statements
• Compilation of the monthly consolidated financial statements
• Completes annual audited consolidation of domestic and foreign subsidiaries, including all GAAP eliminations, workpapers and external financial statements
• Compiles information and work papers for the preparation of income tax returns and reviews completed returns prior to submission
• Compiles domestic and consolidated budgets and work papers
• Preparation of management reports
• Completes special projects as assigned
Requirements
Experience:
• 7-10 Years related experience
• Demonstrated experience consolidating multiple domestic and foreign subsidiaries
• Familiar with a variety of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Operations management background in a manufacturing environment including production and inventory control helpful
Education:
• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required
• CPA or master’s degree preferred
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
• Microsoft D365 ERP system, Microsoft products
• Uses experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Performs a variety of complicated tasks
• Advanced Excel skills are required.
• Knowledge of Atlas and Power BI a plus
The estimated pay range for this role is $160,000 - $ 180,000 annually

The position is responsible for the management and integration of inspection processes to ensure quality products are delivered to internal and external customers. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
Understand business concepts such as inventory procedures, Lead times, and MRP.Ensure performance to meet all production and prototyping requirements of production team.Ensure the quality of all team product and establish sound quality processes.Create updates and presentations as needed for Management.Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.Conduct annual performance reviews for team members.Maintain proper inventory levels in coordination with buyers and planners.Advise planners of potential missed dates.Participate in interviews as needed. Monitor attendance, performance, training; complete performance assessments; make termination recommendations as necessary.Counsel poor performance up to and including termination in conjunction w/ manager.Manage department priorities.Fulfills all regular production duties and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.Assists with managing implemented quality systems.Identify non-conformances through specified inspection methods.In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

Physical Activities:
Work may be active, could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. The employee may lift or move objects up to 20 pounds. Employees must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often very small. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, may be noisy at times. Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment such as but not limited to masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments. The required PPE and training allow for the safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives, lubricants and solvents, and safe operation of job-related equipment and tools.
