Thinkpath Engineering Services is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to fill an opportunity in Sidney, OH. This will initially be a 6 month contract with strong likelihood of going direct at that time.
Responsibilities:
Exhibit technical proficiency while coordinating analytical, design and development assignmentin a fast-paced collaborative environment.
Develop comprehensive knowledge of compressor product models and package subsystems aswell as their interaction with each other.
Suggest and implement product design improvements, which add features or reduce cost andcycle time.
Coordinate, direct and check the work of others acting in a support capacity.Design and analyze components and packaged systems in order to improve performance, solverecurrent problems and reduce costs.
Conceptualize, organize and complete, with the support of others, the design of new gascompressor components, applications, or completely new package layouts.
Prepare 3-D CAD configuration models and drawings organizing arrangement and relationship ofkey components.
Establish liaison with production team to ensure product documentation is accurate andadequate for efficient assembly.
Interface with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Inventory Analyst and ProductionPlanning to determine design change requirements.Generate Engineering Change Notices.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Electro-mechanical Engineering
or 4+ years of experience in Mechanical Design

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and modify design layouts and detailed drawings.Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and calculations.Coordinate with engineers to resolve design issues.Assist in design concepts and may offer design suggestions.Review and check work for accuracy and compliance with standards.Perform CAD Operator duties and own the processes defining the workflows for these duties
o Create basic 2D or 3D drawings based on redlines or instructions from engineers/designers.
o Make revisions to existing drawings.
o Organize and manage drawing files.
o Owns QS documentation regarding the creation and editing of drawings and parts.
REQUIREMENTS:

Job Description
Lead and actively participate in managing an engineering team responsible for providing structural, mechanical, electrical, and powerplant repair services for aircraft and components.Review and approve damage assessments and repair designs while ensuring full regulatory compliance. Maintain current knowledge of FAA Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and applicable OEM Service Bulletins, and ensure proper incorporation into engineering documentation and processes.Serve as the primary engineering liaison to the FAA, designees, and aircraft customers.Support organizational growth through business development and continuous improvement initiatives, including customer presentations, proposal development for aircraft engineering services, and industry or business partnerships.Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and guidance to engineering staff to maximize professional development, engagement, and productivity.Establish departmental KPIs and performance goals that align engineering contributions with organizational objectives.Drive process improvements that enhance the effectiveness of the engineering department and the broader Airborne organization.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.Program or project management experience with demonstrated strategic planning capabilities.Minimum of 5–8 years of combined airline, MRO, or OEM engineering experience.Experience working directly with or interfacing with the FAA (or authorized designees) on engineering-related projects.Demonstrated organizational leadership with strong team-building and communication skills.Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and regulatory authorities at all levels.Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across departments and external organizations.Proven planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize, assign, and coordinate workloads in a multi-project environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, databases, email, and web-based tools.Working knowledge of AutoCAD or a comparable desktop drafting application.
Preferred Qualifications
