    Responsibilities

    Prepare and administer medications and treatments except controlled medications, oxygen, injections, intravenously, parenteral or through any jejunostomy, gastrostomy, nasogastric or oral gastric tube, no initial dose or PRN medication as ordered by the physician and in accordance with state and federal regulations. Measure, prepare, and administer medications accurately and safely. Observe residents for side effects, adverse reactions, or medication errors, and report concerns immediately to the RN Supervisor. Ensure medications are stored, handled, and disposed of in compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the clinical record, administration of medication or refusals by patient Report all discrepancies noted concerning physician orders, diet change, charting error, etc., to the RN supervisor. Give/receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Notify the RN Supervisor when the resident is involved in an accident/incident or change in condition. Review the residents’ chart for specific treatments, medication orders, diets, etc., as necessary. Take and record vital signs (T, P, R, BP, FSBS) etc., as necessary.

    Requirements

    Must be at least 18 years of age, or older High school diploma or GED required Completion of a Michigan Board of Nursing approved Medication Aide training program Current Michigan Certified/State Tested Nurse Assistant certification Must possess a state-certified medication aide certification in the state of Michigan.
