Job Title: Ultrasound Technologists Location: Houston, TX, 77025 Contract: 03 months possible contract extensions Shift: 07:00 AM to 05:30 PM [Mon to Fri] - [4x10] Hours Per week: 40 hours per week. What are the top responsibilities for this position? (Please be as detailed as possible as to what tasks will be conducted on a daily basis): Upon the order of a qualified provider, the Ultrasound Technologist utilizes equipment that employs high frequency sound waves for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Imaging services vary by location, therefore, performance of sonohysterography and/or vascular ultrasound may be required depending on assigned site. The Ultrasound Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PACS). May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties. Must have qualifications/experience: 1. Education A . High School diploma or GED from an accredited program B . Healthcare related degree 2. Experience A . Minimum 1-year ultrasound experience (May be met through completion of a formal ultrasound training program offering minimum 1-year clinical instruction) B. PACS and RIS experience 3. Licenses A. RDMS with a minimum of 2 specialty registries applicable to our practice OR RT(R) (S) and minimum of 2 specialty registries applicable to our practice BCLS certification B. RT(R), RDMS, (Ab) (OB) (BR) 4. Special Skills A. Ability to use computer keyboard and grasp elements of digital image acquisition B. Bi-lingual or multi-lingual 5. Other A. Understands and applies technical principles affecting optimal production of sonographic images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting final product. Understands age related communication needs of patients and can effectively convey instructions to patients to facilitate the performance of studies. *Participates in Technical Quality Control measures, which include performance of routine equipment maintenance and reporting malfunctions or variances in equipment performance to the Radiology Supervisor or his/her designee in the supervisor’s absence. Maintains necessary supplies and documentation of cleaning logs as applicable. *Uses RIS system correctly according to Clinic and Department guidelines and properly documents atypical conditions, which could affect image quality and/or content. Have ability to provide initial assessment. Understands PACS system and can identify problems with image transmission as they occur and notify Radiology Supervisor or Department Lead Tech when corrective actions are beyond the scope of the technologist. *Conscious of ultrasound safety measures. Utilizes sterile technique when necessary. Complies with all KSC safety initiatives. *Participates in formal and in-service training programs of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, department specific in services, and any applicable site-specific training. Maintains current applicable licenses and/or certifications and complies with continuing education requirements necessary to maintain same. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties. * Interacts effectively with vendors, patients, and coworkers, including staff assigned to other locations. Communicates readily and well with Manager, Supervisor, Lead Tech and Radiologists in giving and receiving feedback. Must have the ability to understand and respond to questions by giving information. Capable of dealing effectively with other clinic departments, physicians, and staff.
