About Us:
The Fox Moon Farm Project (foxmoonfarm.org) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving children and adults with special needs and those struggling with trauma. Our mission is to provide a supportive community where individuals can develop essential life skills through hands-on interactions with horses, farm animals, and nature.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and patient Life Skills Counselor to join our team. This individual will work part-time initially, providing one-on-one and group support to multiple clients in a fun, interactive, and experiential manner. The goal will be to bring this person on full time as business grows and expands. The primary goal is to help clients develop life skills that promote happiness, confidence, and emotional well-being in a farm environment, working with our horses and other farm critters. BTW, no experience with horses is required :)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on thorough assessments to address challenges related to anxiety, anger management, emotional dysregulation, cognitive struggles, and motor skills development.
- Utilize hands-on, experiential methods involving animals and nature to facilitate learning and growth for individuals with special needs.
- Provide one-on-one and group counseling sessions in various outdoor settings, fostering a nurturing and engaging atmosphere.
- Employ trauma-informed care techniques to support individuals struggling with past trauma.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support and resources are provided.
- Maintain accurate documentation of progress notes, treatment plans, and assessments.
- Foster a safe and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and emotional well-being.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience working with special needs individuals, particularly those in the autistic community.
- Proven experience in developing treatment plans and conducting assessments to evaluate individual needs.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to commute to our location at Saint Stephen’s Church.
- Enjoyment of working outdoors and the ability to adapt to varying weather and environmental conditions.
- A background and passion for animals and nature to enhance therapeutic experiences.
- Attributes such as kindness, compassion, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting individuals with special needs.
Compensation:
$35-40 per session.
