    PART-TIME CONNECTIONS PASTOR

A Pastoral Role with the Opportunity to Grow into Full-Time Ministry

The Edge Community Church | Suisun City, California

    Employment Status: Regular Part-Time Employee
Schedule: Approximately 20–25 hours per week
Regular Availability: Sundays, designated weekday hours, and occasional evening ministry events
    Reports To: Senior Pastor
    Position Category: Pastor

HELP PEOPLE FIND MORE THAN A CHURCH. HELP THEM FIND A HOME.

The Edge Community Church is looking for a relational, strategic, and spiritually mature Connections Pastor who is passionate about helping people become fully devoted followers of Christ.

This is a part-time pastoral position with a genuine opportunity to grow into a full-time ministry role as The Edge and its Connections Ministry continue to grow.

The Edge began with a heart for people who are far from God and for those who often find themselves on the edge—on the edge of faith, relationships, finances, community, or simply trying to figure out what comes next.

We believe God has called us to be more than a church that gathers.

We are a people who go.

Through Sunday gatherings, Small Groups, Dream Builders, coffee shops, homeless services, food ministries, and community outreach, The Edge is working to bring Gospel renewal to Suisun City, Solano County, and beyond.

Our vision is 1x10: one central hub, ten Kingdom expressions reaching into the region, and one hundred multipliers equipped and sent to bring the love of Jesus wherever they live, work, and serve.

We believe every person who walks through our doors should feel welcomed, known, valued, and invited to take a meaningful next step.

That's where the Connections Pastor comes in.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

The Connections Pastor will help people move from:

    Guest → Connected → Growing → Serving → Leading → Sent

You will lead the ministries and systems that help people move from their first interaction with The Edge into meaningful relationships, spiritual growth, serving, and leadership.

You might be building a guest follow-up process one moment and sitting with someone who has honest questions about Jesus the next.

You might be training Dream Builders, hosting Starting Point, helping someone find a Small Group, following up after a baptism, or simply noticing the person standing alone in the lobby.

We are looking for someone who can think in systems without losing sight of people.

Someone who sees potential in people.

    Someone who develops leaders.

Someone who believes that people far from God matter deeply to God.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

Champion a churchwide culture of hospitality, connection, and belonging.Maintain a visible and relational pastoral presence during Sunday gatherings.Personally connect with guests, newcomers, and people exploring faith.Oversee Guest Services and connection environments.Lead guest follow-up, Connection Cards, and digital connection inquiries.Build clear next-step pathways from first visit into meaningful participation.Plan, host, and develop Starting Point.Help people take next steps in baptism and spiritual growth.Help people find Small Groups and meaningful Christian community.Lead Dream Builder onboarding and help people discover places to serve.Recruit, equip, coach, and pastor volunteer leaders.Identify emerging leaders and help them grow.Develop leaders who can develop other leaders.Provide prayer, biblical encouragement, spiritual guidance, and relational pastoral care.Assist with baptisms, communion, hospital visits, funerals, weddings, and other pastoral ministry as authorized.Use ministry systems and data to identify people who may be disconnected or need follow-up.Work collaboratively with the Senior Pastor, staff, ministry leaders, Small Group leaders, and Dream Builders.

    WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You may be a strong fit if you love Jesus, live with biblical integrity, and genuinely care about people who do not know Christ.

    You notice people.

You can walk into a busy lobby and see the person standing alone.

You can build a system but never forget that every name in the system represents a person.

You enjoy developing people more than collecting titles.

You can coach a leader, encourage a volunteer, listen to someone who is hurting, and help a spiritually curious person take one more step toward Jesus.

You are organized enough to manage follow-up, events, and ministry systems but flexible enough to understand that ministry does not always happen according to a calendar.

You believe Sundays are the huddle.

You believe growth happens in circles.

You believe people should get in the game.

And you want to help build a church that makes such a difference in its community that there would be a noticeable gap if it disappeared.

    QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have a growing and active relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate biblical character consistent with pastoral leadership.

Candidates must align with The Edge's Statement of Faith, mission, values, ministry culture, and Staff Lifestyle Agreement.

We are looking for someone with relational warmth, pastoral maturity, spiritual depth, strong communication skills, and the ability to recruit, equip, coach, and develop leaders.

Three or more years of pastoral or ministry leadership experience is preferred.

Experience in guest connection, assimilation, discipleship, Small Groups, or volunteer leadership is especially helpful.

Experience with church management systems, databases, project management, teaching, hosting, or group facilitation is beneficial.

A bachelor's degree in ministry, theology, biblical studies, leadership, or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant ministry leadership experience may be considered.

Ministerial credentials or active progress toward credentialing are preferred. The successful candidate may be required to pursue an approved credentialing pathway.

Spanish-speaking ability is helpful but not required.

    THIS IS A PASTORAL ROLE

The Connections Pastor is expected to find, equip, and support leaders for the work of ministry and to provide direction, coaching, and pastoral care.

The successful candidate must be licensed, credentialed, or ordained, or be willing to pursue an approved pathway toward ministerial credentialing.

This is not simply an event-planning or guest-services position.

We are looking for a pastor.

PART-TIME NOW. BUILT WITH THE FUTURE IN MIND.

This position begins as a Regular Part-Time Employee role scheduled for approximately 20–25 hours per week.

The Edge's long-term vision is for the Connections Pastor role to develop into a full-time pastoral position.

As the church and ministry grow, the role may expand into broader leadership over assimilation, spiritual formation, new-believer development, Small Groups, Dream Builder development, pastoral care, leadership development, community connection, teaching, preaching, and ministry oversight.

Transition to full-time employment will depend on ministry growth, organizational need, financial capacity, performance, leadership development, and continued alignment with the mission, Statement of Faith, Staff Lifestyle Agreement, and culture of The Edge.

The opportunity for growth is genuine.

    Full-time employment is not guaranteed.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a Regular Part-Time Employee position scheduled for approximately 20–25 hours per week.

Benefits and employment practices are provided in accordance with The Edge Community Church Staff Handbook, applicable law, and official benefit plan documents.

Regular employees are eligible to participate in The Edge's retirement plan. Under the current Staff Handbook, eligible pastoral staff receive an 11% Wesleyan Pension Fund contribution, subject to applicable plan terms and eligibility requirements.

California employees accrue paid sick leave at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, subject to the accrual and usage provisions of The Edge Staff Handbook and applicable law.

Approved and necessary ministry-related business expenses are handled in accordance with The Edge's reimbursement policy.

If the position transitions to eligible full-time status, additional benefits may become available, including health and other Edge-sponsored health benefits and group life insurance, subject to the Staff Handbook and official plan terms. Health benefits currently apply to regular employees scheduled and generally working at least 30 hours per week, and group life insurance is provided to regular full-time employees after the applicable waiting period.

    90-DAY INTRODUCTORY PERIOD

The first 90 days of employment are considered an introductory period.

This is a time for the new pastor to become familiar with The Edge's people, culture, practices, and position responsibilities. It is also a time for both The Edge and the employee to evaluate fit with the role and organization.

At the end of the introductory period, the supervisor will discuss growth and job performance with the employee, and the employee will be encouraged to provide feedback about their experience.

Completion of the introductory period does not guarantee continued employment or full-time employment and does not alter the at-will employment relationship.

    OUTSIDE EMPLOYMENT

We understand that a person serving in a part-time ministry position may have outside employment.

Outside employment is permitted during non-working hours when it does not create a conflict of interest, conflict with The Edge's values or Staff Lifestyle Agreement, or interfere with responsibilities at The Edge.

Employees are expected to provide written notice to their supervisor regarding outside employment as described in The Edge Staff Handbook.

    BACKGROUND CHECK AND LIVE SCAN

All offers of employment and continued employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of The Edge's background-check requirements.

The process includes Live Scan and may include employment verification, reference checks, education confirmation, criminal background, credit history when permitted and relevant, or other information permitted by law.

    HOW TO APPLY

Please submit a current résumé, a cover letter explaining why this role and The Edge interest you, a brief description of your relationship with Jesus and philosophy of ministry, examples of your experience recruiting and developing ministry leaders, links to teaching, preaching, hosting, or ministry examples when available, and three professional or ministry references.

Applications will be reviewed as they are received. The position will remain open until filled.

The Edge Community Church is looking for more than someone to maintain programs.

We are looking for a pastor who sees people, develops leaders, builds healthy pathways, and believes every person has a God-given next step.
