We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Litigation Assistant/Paralegal to join our dynamic Personal Injury team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in all stages of the litigation process, ensuring that personal injury cases progress smoothly and efficiently. This position requires excellent communication, time management, and multitasking skills, as well as a passion for client advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys with litigation, including drafting discovery documents, subpoenas, and motionsMaintain and organize physical and electronic case files using legal case management softwareSchedule and calendar hearings, depositions, mediations, and trialsCommunicate with clients, opposing counsel, medical providers, and court personnelFile legal documents with state and federal courts (both electronically and in-person, if needed)Coordinate service of process and ensure timely follow-upsTrack litigation deadlines and ensure compliance with court rules and proceduresAssist with trial preparation, including preparation of exhibits, witness lists, and trial bindersPerform administrative tasks such as scanning, copying, mailing, and managing incoming correspondenceQualifications:
3+ years of litigation experience in a personal injury law firm (preferred)Knowledge of California court procedures and e-filing systemsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software (e.g., Filevine, CasePeer, or similar)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentFluency in Spanish requiredBenefits:

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing deadlines, evaluating cases, negotiating settlements, and filing lawsuits when necessary to protect our clients' interests.
What Success Looks Like
• Proactively managing statutes of limitations and critical deadlines
• Timely identification of cases requiring lawsuit filing
• Effective settlement negotiations resulting in favorable client outcomes
• Strong collaboration with Case Managers and support staff
• Consistent communication with clients throughout the life of their case
• Accurate evaluation of liability, damages, and settlement value
• Protecting clients' rights through timely legal action when necessary
Responsibilities
• Manage a pre-litigation caseload from intake through resolution
• Monitor and manage statutes of limitations and critical legal deadlines
• Evaluate liability, damages, and overall case value
• Handle settlement negotiations with insurance carriers and opposing parties
• Draft, prepare, and file pre-litigation lawsuits and legal pleadings as needed
• Review medical records, billing records, police reports, and supporting documentation
• Communicate directly with clients regarding case status and legal strategy
• Collaborate with Case Managers, Medical Records Coordinators, and firm leadership
• Identify cases requiring escalation into formal litigation
• Maintain accurate case documentation and notes within case management systems
• Ensure compliance with California legal procedures and firm protocols
Desired Skills & Qualifications
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
• 1-5+ years of experience in personal injury and/or pre-litigation law preferred
• Strong understanding of California personal injury law and pre-litigation procedures
• Strong knowledge of statutes of limitations and filing requirements
• Knowledge of government claim timelines, deadlines, and statutory requirements
• Knowledge of uninsured/underinsured motorist timelines, deadlines, and procedures
• Experience drafting, preparing, and filing lawsuits and legal pleadings
• Strong negotiation and settlement evaluation skills
• Ability to evaluate liability, damages, and settlement value
• Strong legal research, analytical, and writing abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload effectively and efficiently
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Experience in plaintiff personal injury litigation preferred
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $110,000 - $170,000 DOE

Position Overview
The Pre-Litigation Manager (PLM) is responsible for overseeing a team of Case Managers and support staff to ensure cases are progressing efficiently, in compliance with firm standards, and with a strong focus on client experience.
This role involves team leadership, case oversight, performance management, and operational coordination throughout the pre-litigation process.
Key Responsibilities
Case Oversight & Coordination
• Monitor case progress to ensure timely handling and adherence to firm procedures
• Review case files at key intervals and provide guidance on next steps
• Support team members in identifying opportunities to strengthen case development
• Ensure appropriate documentation and case activity is maintained
Performance Management
• Monitor team performance using established metrics and reporting tools
• Provide coaching, feedback, and support to team members
• Conduct regular check-ins and performance discussions
• Identify areas of improvement and support team development
Team Leadership & Development
• Supervise Case Managers and support staff including CMAs and MRCs
• Provide training and guidance on case handling and workflows
• Support onboarding and ongoing development of team members
• Promote a collaborative and professional team environment
Operational Support
• Ensure adherence to firm processes, workflows, and procedures
• Identify operational inefficiencies and communicate opportunities for improvement
• Support implementation of process updates and organizational initiatives
• Maintain consistency in case handling and documentation practices
Client & Case Support
• Assist with escalated client concerns in a professional and timely manner
• Provide guidance to team members on complex case situations
• Collaborate with attorneys and leadership as needed on case-related matters

Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in personal injury law
• 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred
• Strong understanding of pre-litigation case management processes
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with case management systems (e.g., Filevine, CasePeer) preferred
