JOB SUMMARY: Leads and directs all nursing and quality management activities of the ambulatory network of sites, Joint Commission compliance, performance improvement, and infection control. Develops strategic plans and policies for improved quality throughout the ambulatory network. Works with and supervises nursing staff to ensure compliance. Works with senior management to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. Works closely with the senior clinical and administrative teams to improve overall quality of care and service through continuous performance improvement. Oversees the nursing aspect of ambulatory operations, including trainings, evaluation and competencies. Creates a collaborative and efficient work environment with attention to quality standards and policies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you will assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory disorders using advanced respiratory care modalities and high-tech equipment. You will provide medical gas therapy, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, airway clearance therapies, and respiratory monitoring while ensuring compliance with hospital standards, regulatory agencies, and Joint Commission requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide acute and critical respiratory care to patients of all ages utilizing sound clinical judgment and advanced respiratory technology
• Administer oxygen therapy, heliox, nitric oxide, humidity therapy, CPAP, and other respiratory treatment modalities
• Operate and manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation equipment
• Measure, interpret, and monitor respiratory physiological parameters, vital signs, blood gases, and co-oximetry analyses
• Develop, implement, and monitor respiratory plans of care and communicate patient status changes to physicians and leadership
• Respond to and participate in Code Blue events, rapid response situations, disasters, and patient transports requiring ventilatory support
• Perform advanced respiratory procedures including translaryngeal intubation, arterial puncture, and suctioning
• Provide airway clearance, bronchial hygiene, and lung expansion therapies while maintaining compliance with regulatory and safety standards
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Care Science (B.S.R.T.) preferred; or Associate Degree in Respiratory Science with additional qualifying education or hospital experience as outlined by departmental standards
• Minimum of two (2) years of hospital experience - preferred
• Critical care experience with adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations - preferred
• Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care
• New York City Fire Department Certificate of Fitness – G71 Supervision of Piped Non-Flammable Medical Gas
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Knowledge of translaryngeal intubation and arterial puncture procedures
• Strong computer, communication, and critical thinking skills with the ability to work effectively in high-pressure clinical environments
