Description: Our client, a well-established and profitable services company, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its accounting team. The responsibilities include: Prepare, analyze, or verify annual reports, financial statements, and other records, using accepted accounting and statistical procedures to assess financial condition and facilitate financial planning. Develop, maintain, or analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Examine and evaluate financial and information systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity. Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions. Supervise asset utilization, audit results, and recommend changes in operations and financial activities. Present management team with schedules and financial statements and discuss findings. Oversee outside audit, payroll audits, detect internal controls, etc. Maintain and upgrade policies and procedures. Determine insurance premiums, workers compensation coverage, liabilities, and compliance with tax laws. Manage and provide oversight of core accounting operations, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and bank reconciliations. Prepare adjusting journal entries. Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements. Ad hoc projects as required.
