    Summary:

    Complete assigned tasks in a safe manner by wearing all required PPE, and by adhering to all applicable safety requirements and standards of the company, customer, and/or regulatory group.Recognize QA requirements and report any circumstances that need attention to the QA Department or immediate supervisor.Identify processes that will have to be accomplished at the shop and fill out all necessary paperwork.Communicate with the supervisor, customer, or designated representative to coordinate specific job-related aspects and ensure job continuity.Follow company, and customer policies, regulations, procedures, and other necessary requirements.Capable of accomplishing the installation repair, and maintenance of ship's fluid systems which include pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, actuators and valves without Supervision.Capable of accomplishing the testing of equipment to ensure systems meet specifications, references and drawings without Supervision.Capable of accomplishing the installation and testing of various shop equipment.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Review details of the work package such as technical information, specification items, drawings, manuals, sketches, etc.Responsible for the repair, overhaul, maintenance, replacement, alignment, removal, installation, modification, resting, troubleshooting, assembly, and inspection of shipboard and industrial mechanical equipment and related systems.Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and seek assistance with weights over 50 pounds.Demonstrate knowledge of shipyard safety best practices (i.e. job hazard analysis (JHA), fire prevention, electrical safety, tool safety, fall protection, hazardous waste operations, confined space entry, hot work operations, etc.)Demonstrate the ability to operate and maintain a sand blaster, parts washer, steam cleaner and paint booth.Demonstrate knowledge of basic math and measuring (i.e. addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, how to read a tape measure, etc.)Ability to properly care for and use basic tools (e.g. flashlight, tape measure, pliers, feeler gauge, Allen wrench, crescent wrench, combination wrench, socket wrench, Ford wrench, pipe wrench, ball-peen hammer, soft hammer, Phillips and flat head screwdriver).Must adhere to applicable documents, references, and safety guidelines including, but not limited to the following:ABSMSC General Technical Requirements (GTR)NAVSEA Standard ItemsGeneral Specifications/Overhaul of ShipsOSHAManufacturer (OEM) DocumentationNOAA StandardsMIL-STD-777EU.     2nd Class = 2 - 4 years of experience as an Outside Machinist in a shipyard.

    Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.Associates degree, Technical Certification or OEM Certification preferred.Must be able to gain DBIDS credential.Must be able to pass Drug Screening and Work Ability Screening.Must be able to obtain a government facility security pass to all local shipyards.

    Outside Machinist Handyperson

    Summary:

    A handyperson must have a basic knowledge of the ship building industry and show a willingness to learn, strive, and continually improve in all aspects of his/her work. Capable of accomplishing the installation repair, and maintenance of ship's fluid systems which include pumps, compressors, purifiers, heat exchangers, actuators and valves with some Journeyman assistance and / or oversite.
