The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize our customer’s Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. Responsibilities will include ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.HYBRID LOCATIONTwo (2) days remote at a suitable off-site location and three (3) days on site in Annapolis, MD 21401.See details below in Place of Performance Section. DURATION:The Purchase Order term will be a five (5) year term from 07/01/2025 to 6/30/2030, or for a period of five (5) years after the date of Purchase Order issuance, whichever is later.BACKGROUND CHECK: Background Investigation and Drug Test requiredA. QUALIFICATIONS:1. Required qualifications:a. Bachelor’s degree, or postgraduate degree, in engineering, computer science, or related field (as determined by the customer).The customer has pre-determined that degrees in the following fields are not related: Bachelors in Agricultural and Resource Economics and Masters in Business Administration.b. Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).The certification must be issued by Red Hat.The certification may be either current or non-current, provided that the certification ID is supplied and in valid status for the proposed resource.2. Preferred qualifications:Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.Ten (10) or more years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.C. RESPONSIBILITIES1. Responsibilities:Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystem tools.Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deploymentsMaintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.Setup Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.Configuring Chron jobs for both systems and applications.D. SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & CAPABILITIES1. Experience, Abilities & Knowledge:a. Experience with:(1) Working in a complex networked system environment with strong networking.(2) Administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.(3) Administering systems including, but not limited to, the applications below:Oracle WebLogic ServersOracle Database ServersProgress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdgeApache Web ServersvSphere hosted RHEL Servers.Rubrik backup systems.Oracle Database backups.PeopleSoftMobiusElastic SearchOracle OBICVS (Concurrent Version System)(4) Red Hat performance tuning.(5) Load balancing, partitioning, back-up/recovery, and disaster recovery.(6) Working in an environment that requires 24/7 system availability.(7) Application development.(8) Red Hat Support.(9) Electronic Imaging Support.b. Ability to:(1) Work in a team environment.(2) Communicate effectively with internal and external personnel.(3) Demonstrate leadership skills.(4) Interface with users and helpdesk for day-to-day support.(5) Provide Backup/recovery and networking methodologies.(6) Troubleshoot at the Operating System (OS), database, and application levels.c. Knowledge of:(1) Red Hat administration including configuration and tuning.E. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE1. Work shall be performed in a hybrid setting each week, Monday through Friday, as follows:Two (2) days remote at a suitable off-site location selected by the Offeror/Offeror Resource(s). The Customer reserves the right to determine an off-site location is not suitable (e.g., crowded public space with distracting background noise during meetings).Three (3) days a week on site in Annapolis, MD 21401.2. On-site support may be required. As designated by the Customer’s Chief Technology Officer, the proposed resource(s) must be able to report on-site within twenty-four (24) hours after notification.If required to report, the Offeror Resource shall report to the Customer in Annapolis, MD 21401.The Customer does not have a limit on the number of times the proposed resource(s) may be required to be onsite.3. The Customer reserves the right to regularly evaluate performance and withdraw remote privileges in the event of a decline in Purchase Order performance.4. The Customer reserves the right to modify the allocation of onsite and remote work effort throughout the life of the Purchase Order. In the event of a modification, the Contract Manager will coordinate with the Successful Offeror on a mutually agreeable allocation of work effort.5. If the Offeror proposed resource has a work allocation that includes remote work at any time during the life of the Purchase Order, the Offeror proposed resource may not perform remote work from a country other than the United States of America without prior approval from the Contract Manager. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, Offerors shall not anticipate receiving approval for remote work from a country other than the United States of America.F. SCHEDULE & COORDINATION 1. Offeror proposed resource(s) shall perform during normal operating hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM Eastern Standard Time (EDT).The proposed resource(s) shall have the flexibility to extend coverage hours or schedule to meet deadlines, project requirements, and/or on-call operational support, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.The Customer’s Project Manager or Department/Senior Manager must approve work prior to or after normal operation hours, not to exceed 2,040 hours per year.TechOpps will provide a list of holidays2.
