POSITION SUMMARY:
The Color Compounding Colorist is responsible for matching custom colors for potential new business needs. The Colorist must also take responsibility for color master batch production in accordance with the schedule demands. Ultimately, the colorist is responsible for the quality and production in satisfying the customer.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for satisfying the demands of the Extrusion department as an internal customer, such as in manufacturing concentrate accurately and in a timely manner.
Responsible for color concentrate (SPD) quality assurance when receiving new lots.
Responsible for development of custom color products, which includes receipt, submittal, and approval of product.
Interpret Color Spectrophotometer results to determine if color adjustment is needed.
Create Color matching formulation and Color adjustment formulations as needed
Oversee production and lab quality control, including lab training and education of operators.
Must be able to problem solve and follow WCM methodology.
Responsible for development and maintenance of formulations
Responsible for lab sampling procedures, including but not limited to, documentation, organization, communications, inspection, and testing.
As needed, assist department leader, and/or compound supervisor, and quality supervisor with special projects and Root Cause Analysis.
Must be able to fill the role of the technical coordinator and operator positions
Act as a fill-in for Color Compounding Leader during the Color Compound Leader's absence.
Other duties as instructed by Supervisor
NEEDED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to assist in a flexible schedule when necessary; including a 24-hour on-call schedule.
Must be able to deal with the Extrusion department in meeting their demands as an internal customer.
Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve any manufacturing, quality, or customer problem when necessary.
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, production blend orders, color plaque formulas, Extrusion schedule, color graphs, and instructions from supervisor. Ability to write production and post blend orders, as well as cost sheets. Ability to communicate with departmental and interdepartmental operators, supervisors, and plant management.
Ability to perform intermediate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division functions.
Ability to accurately enter data in SAP. Ability to effectively work with Color Spectrophotometer.
Lift Truck License
Color Training preferred.

Responsibilities:
Designs and implements plant wide SCADA and MES system improvements, working closely with the process engineering and quality teams to determine best practices for data collection and process control.
Develops and supports Allen Bradley PLC based control systems, including development and recommending technology upgrades of control systems.
Design electrical systems for new equipment, including schematics, panel design, component selection, and wiring.
Configures and trains technical personnel on the installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and control systems.
Troubleshoots machinery and plant technical issues, guides Maintenance Techs to address root cause repairs.
Develops and maintains PLC Ladder Logic and code for Allen Bradley PLCs.
Troubleshoots maintenance related problems and coaches Maintenance Techs to address root cause of failures. This includes troubleshooting and programming PLC's using Ladder Logic.
Mentor other engineers and maintenance technicians in automation and controls, thus improving the overall department skills and abilities.
Provide remote troubleshooting support as needed to ensure production is maintained across all night and weekend shifts.
Develop business cases and write Capital Appropriation Requests including project cost and justification with payback & ROI calculations to support operational needs.
Partner with operations and maintenance teams to implement AM / PM measures to ensure equipment is well maintained for safe and reliable operation to meet product specifications.
Negotiate with and oversee suppliers and contractors on equipment installation, redesign, and troubleshooting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Identify new processes and technology to improve cycle times, reduce quality defects, and improve ergonomics through the effective use of PLC's, servo or variable speed drives, camera technology, robotic technology and any other resource
Execute PLC program modifications that enable process improvements.
Establish, optimize, and maintain process parameters and cycle times; reduce process variation by applying engineering / quality principles and tools including FMEA's, statistical analysis, DOE's and industry best practices.

The Production Control Clerk will be responsible for performing clerical and physical tasks by shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments. They must prepare products for shipment, verify incoming shipments are received as ordered, and route them to the appropriate departments. Loads and unloads trucks, maintains their area, prepares shipping documents, and maintains records on all incoming and outgoing shipments.
Specific duties include:
Handle and manage incoming shipments of goods and materials received.
Perform and execute unloading and storage or distribution of goods/materials received.
Inspect and verify the condition of the goods/materials received.
Count and verify received goods/materials.
Communicate discrepancies in goods/materials received to the manager.
Perform and manage the administrative functions of goods/materials received.
Prepare goods and/or materials for outgoing shipment.
Prepare all shipping documentation, labels, etc. for outgoing shipments.
Reports any incidents or unsafe conditions immediately.
Ensure all safety controls are in place.
Ensure compliance with environmental management and systems.
Maintain a busy loading dock in good order, including all necessary labels, equipment, materials, and supplies

Organizes and coordinates all shipping/receiving activity while maintaining excellent housekeeping in related work areas.

Minimum Qualifications:
Math and computer skills.
SAP experience.
Must be able to operate a tow motor for loading and unloading, moving, storing, and continually maximizing use of space.
Consistency of good attendance and punctuality.
Occasional reaching, bending, lifting and moving heavy objects as required up to 50 lbs.
Flexible schedule - must be able to work a variety of shift times in order to accommodate, delivery and other needs.
Strong organization skills.
Must have interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work well within a team.

In this position you will be responsible for supporting our operations by leading the electrical control system design and installation of new equipment. In this role you will also support existing equipment and plant operations, while recommending upgrades and technology improvements. This position reports into the Senior Manager of Engineering and Maintenance and partners with Production, Quality, Safety, Procurement and Maintenance Departments to eliminate process variation and execute cost reduction opportunities with a focus on equipment control, technology upgrades and automation implementation.

Responsibilities:
Designs and implements plant wide SCADA and MES system improvements, working closely with the process engineering and quality teams to determine best practices for data collection and process control.
Develops and supports Allen Bradley PLC based control systems, including development and recommending technology upgrades of control systems.
Design electrical systems for new equipment, including schematics, panel design, component selection, and wiring.
Configures and trains technical personnel on the installation, programming, and troubleshooting of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and control systems.
Troubleshoots machinery and plant technical issues, guides Maintenance Techs to address root cause repairs.
Develops and maintains PLC Ladder Logic and code for Allen Bradley PLCs.
Troubleshoots maintenance related problems and coaches Maintenance Techs to address root cause of failures. This includes troubleshooting and programming PLC's using Ladder Logic.
Mentor other engineers and maintenance technicians in automation and controls, thus improving the overall department skills and abilities.
Provide remote troubleshooting support as needed to ensure production is maintained across all night and weekend shifts.
Develop business cases and write Capital Appropriation Requests including project cost and justification with payback & ROI calculations to support operational needs.
Partner with operations and maintenance teams to implement AM / PM measures to ensure equipment is well maintained for safe and reliable operation to meet product specifications.
Negotiate with and oversee suppliers and contractors on equipment installation, redesign, and troubleshooting.
May also be given opportunities to support facilities power and electrical projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical degree
