Overview
TalentFish is casting a line for a senior Eventing / Messaging / Cloud-Native Integration Engineer to support a large-scale cloud modernization and acquisition-integration initiative.
This consultant will assess event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, messaging, streaming, serverless technologies, and cloud-native managed-service dependencies that may affect application onboarding to a target cloud platform.
The role requires someone who can go beyond identifying technologies in use. This engineer must understand how applications behave across producers, consumers, queues, topics, streams, triggers, retries, dead-letter handling, ordering, replay, fanout, idempotency, and failure scenarios.
The selected consultant will determine whether current integrations can be retained through a controlled exception, bridged temporarily, replaced with an equivalent target-platform service, redesigned using a different integration pattern, or migrated only through deeper application refactoring.
What You’ll Do
Assess messaging, streaming, serverless, asynchronous processing, and cloud-native managed-service dependencies.Analyze representative producers, consumers, queues, topics, streams, partitions, and event triggers.Evaluate retry behavior, dead-letter handling, replay, message ordering, routing, fanout, and failure scenarios.Review delivery guarantees, acknowledgment behavior, visibility models, consumer-group behavior, and deduplication requirements.Assess idempotency, schema evolution, backpressure, event sequencing, and processing resilience.Determine whether current dependencies should be:Retained through a controlled exceptionTemporarily bridgedReplaced with an equivalent target-platform serviceRedesigned using a different integration patternMigrated through application refactoringIdentify differences in semantics between current and proposed technologies.Evaluate impacts across producers, consumers, application teams, platform services, security controls, deployment processes, testing, and operational support.Assess observability, monitoring, alerting, tracing, failure recovery, and support requirements.Perform bounded, non-production technical validation when needed.Identify migration dependencies, sequencing constraints, platform backlog items, operational concerns, and technical risks.Estimate the effort required across application, platform, security, testing, deployment, and support teams.Produce concise engineering assessment documentation covering:Semantic compatibilityArchitecture implicationsApplication-refactoring requirementsMigration sequencingPlatform and security dependenciesOperational risksCutover and rollback considerationsFuture engineering effortCollaborate with application teams, integration architects, cloud platform owners, security teams, and operations stakeholders. What You Bring
