At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the Prototyping, Experimentation, and Instrumentation (PIE) Department and we are currently looking to hire an Instrumentation Technician III to provide aircraft instrumentation and hardware/software support to the Advanced Systems Group (ASG) Lab Facility. You will work with technicians and engineers on all platforms in advancing the capabilities of onboard instrumentation systems (RDTE).
This position is an instrumentation support role within the Research, Development, and Technical Leadership Branch (AD4160) ASG team. The individual in this role must be familiar with aircraft instrumentation systems and knowledgeable of the effectiveness and execution of ASG processes and operations. You must be able to manage instrumentation hardware and software configurations, demonstrate the ability to set priorities, and meet deadlines within shifting schedules. This requires knowledge of aircraft instrumentation hardware testing, configuration, and troubleshooting. To be successful in this role, you must be experienced in a wide variety of aircraft instrumentation hardware and their uses to support flight test programs. The position requires a thorough understanding of test equipment and electronics principles and experience doing solder work and other bench work related to the instrumentation field AND experience with Systems Administration would be very beneficial.
Typical duties will include (but are not limited to):Responsible for the overall configuration and support of test instrumentation utilized at the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID). Responsible to follow all AID TSOPs (Technical Standard Operating Procedures), NAMP (Naval Aviation Maintenance Program) procedures. Coordinates and directs project efforts of team members including supporting shops and laboratories, formulating and overseeing the testing of instrumentation hardware. This technician will perform general engineering support functions for wiring, sheet metal, electronics, drafting, instrumentation, structures, or machining disciplines and will assist more senior Engineering Techs and Engineers on projects by gathering materials and equipment from source locations and delivering to work/test locations and returning items to proper locations. The Technician must demonstrate the ability to perform a practical application of tools and techniques to assigned duties and will receive technical guidance from a supervisor or higher level-technicians. The technician’s work is reviewed at initiation for proper technique, and monitored for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments. You may also be asked to provide visitor control support as needed.

SA-TECH has been supporting the US Navy's mission at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Point Mugu as a prime contractor since 2008. Our responsibilities encompass operating and performing operational-, intermediate-, and depot-level maintenance for aerial and seaborne assets in support of weapon systems test and evaluation and fleet training exercises. We manage all stages of aerial and seaborne target assets’ operational progression from initial inspection and configuration through deployment, return and post-operation maintenance and repair. We provide management, scheduling and execution of aerial and seaborne target operations; operation and maintenance of target recovery vessels (Aerial Vehicle Recovery [AVRs]); asset maintenance and depot repair; depot engineering assistance; recovery of aerial and seaborne assets; inventory management; and management of Government-furnished facilities, materials, vehicles and equipment. SA-TECH personnel perform commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) to Remote Control conversion to meet PMS-325 production goals for the Seaborne Targets Externally Directed Team (STEDT). We also provide target control system operation and management, and set-up, test and operation of assets for System for Naval Target Control (SNTC) and Portable Command and Control Unit (PCCU) support at local and deployed locations.
SA-TECH is currently hiring an Electronics Technician, Maintenance II to perform various electronics and avionics tasks on aerial target systems and subsystems (BQM-34, BQM-177, or BQM-74 Targets) at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA and other designated aerial target operating sites.
The Electronics Technician Maintenance II applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents. Work requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices. This technician works under immediate supervision and achieves technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician
Under limited supervision, the technician applies technical working knowledge to perform tasks on various types of electronics and avionics on aerial target systems and subsystems (BQM-34, BQM-177, or BQM-74 Targets). These tasks typically involve assisting higher level technicians or assuming lead positions in activities such as build-up or replacing aerial target components, wiring harnesses/circuits, troubleshooting systems and subsystems, repairing simple electronic equipment, using tools and common test equipment, and receiving technical guidance, as required, from the supervisor or higher level technicians. The technician will be required to maintain equipment logs, maintenance action forms and work-time tracking sheets. You will need to have the ability to work with small cads (pyro technic devices) and targets-specific rocket motors (JATO). You will also need the ability to learn aerial target launch pad evolutions, both at Pt. Mugu and deployed sites.
The position requires following OSHA and Navy mandated safety guidelines with specific periods of use for safety glasses, outdoor use of respirator, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, and possibly earning a forklift license. Will require other specific driver license or operator qualifications for targets-specific support.
