System One IT is staffing two Service Desk I openings for a leading scientific institution in Baltimore, MD.
Seeking candidates with strong macOS, Windows, and Linux experience to provide day-to-day user support and troubleshooting for laptops/machines, network connectivity, login issues, etc.
On-call rotation is expected. Hybrid work model, 3 days a week in-office.
Responsibilities
· Manage user accounts within Active Directory, including provisioning, deactivation, and ongoing maintenance.
· Provide technical support to staff and partners through in-person assistance, telephone, and various collaboration tools.
· Execute routine operational tasks in accordance with established procedures; proactively identify and escalate issues to second- or third-tier support and management as needed.
· Effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
· Maintain strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Collaborate effectively as a team member to achieve organizational goals.
Requirements
· Strong technical skills, including knowledge of hardware, software, and operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
· Excellent customer service and communication skills.
· Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in an interrupt-driven environment.
· Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
· ITAR clearance required.
· Must be able to work on-site three days per week.

This role supports the stability, performance, and security of enterprise and data center network infrastructure. The position is responsible for managing Cisco-based networking environments including Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms, wireless networks, ISE, and IPS, while ensuring high availability, security compliance, and continuous operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain internal and external network infrastructure supporting critical business applications.
• Support day-to-day network operations and ongoing initiatives, including routing and switching troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and operational support.
• Develop and implement new network designs and improvements to enhance performance, resiliency, and scalability.
• Plan and execute network upgrades in collaboration with internal teams.
• Proactively monitor and analyze network health using enterprise monitoring and management platforms.
• Participate in cloud migration and hybrid network initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 8 years of experience supporting enterprise grade routers and switches in large data center environments.

• Strong expertise in TCP/IP troubleshooting and packet analysis.
• Hands-on experience configuring and supporting:
• BGP, OSPF, and STP on Cisco NX-OS and IOS-XE platforms
• Cisco Nexus (9K, 7K) and Catalyst switches and routers
• Proven experience designing, planning, testing, implementing, and troubleshooting large-scale data center networks.
• Experience with network management and monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds and Cisco Catalyst Center.
