    POSITION PURPOSE:

    Asphalt Distributor Drivers are responsible for safely and efficiently operating distributor and heavy equipment of various sizes used in road, site, or highway paving. These Drivers operate commercial motor vehicles over 26,001 lbs. or a truck-trailer combination over 26,001 lbs. in compliance with federal, state and local laws. These Drivers work as part of a crew and at times may also operate equipment or provide general labor.

    essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Employee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.Operate distributor truck in the loading and off-loading of oil materials.Monitor various gauges during operation of the vehicle.Set spray bar on manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors for applying liquid asphalt.Keep track of material on hand in storage tank and notify supervisor before additional product is required.Apply products according to job specifications and assure product quality to the best of driver's ability.Clean asphalt out of tanks and from spray bars.Perform daily pre-post trip inspection with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.Know, understand and comply with all Department of Transportation, (DOT) as well as state and local regulations.Focus on public safety and operate vehicle in a safe and prudent manner at all times.Responsible for ensuring vehicle is road-worthy prior to leaving the yard and/or jobsite and work directly with mechanics to guarantee any repairs needed are made to the vehicle prior to leaving the yard.Use Company's suggested method to compile, maintain and log driving hours as required by state, federal and local laws.May operate heavy equipment such as trucks, screeds, rollers, pavers, paving finishing machines, paving curbing machines and front end loaders to apply asphalt products according to job specifications.Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.Actively participate in job-site and safety meetings and all Company related training.Must invoke Sunland's Core Values.Follow direction of the Foreman and/or Superintendent with regards to daily production schedule and activities.Operate trucks to transport equipment to and from production sites as required and assist in the maintenance of all equipment.May set up and tear down equipment and assist with job-site clean- up.May perform other related duties such as shovel work, raking, and other general laborer work as needed.Any and all duties assigned.

Must be able to work outside, frequently and for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. Must be able to operate vehicles and trailers in a safe manner in compliance with local, state and federal traffic laws. Must operate equipment, machinery and other tools in compliance with safety guidelines and manufacturer specifications.Must be able to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment in a variety of different situations.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, crawl, climb, bend, stoop, kneel and lift overhead, push, pull, and carry objects.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education, Work Experience and Requirements

    A high school diploma or GED is preferred.Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.Possess a solid understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak, read and write English.Must be willing to travel to any and all jobsite without exception (including staying away from home if necessary.)

    Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

    A current, Class A, CDL license in the state where the majority of work is being performed. A Hazmat or tanker endorsement may be required depending on position/dept./division.Must have a clean motor-vehicle record. Must be able to pass DOT physical and maintain a current medical card.Must pass a DOT drug test.Must pass a safety road test.Must pass a pre-employment background check.

    Position PURPOSE

    POSITION PURPOSE

    The Saw Cutter - Asphalt and Concrete will be responsible for operating concrete saws and performing precise cutting tasks to support various construction projects. Your keen attention to detail and strong work ethic will be essential for ensuring high-quality work and adherence to safety standards.

    Your key responsibilities will include:

    Utilize concrete and asphalt saws (including flat saws, wall saws, and hand-held saws) to cut various surfaces such as roads, curbs, slabs, sidewalks, trenches, ADA ramps, driveways, aprons, valley gutters, and other structures.Assess cutting depth and blade performance, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality.Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and awareness of site hazards (like utilities, traffic, and personnel).Collaborate with foremen, equipment operators, and laborers to ensure cutting tasks are integrated with site operations.Assist with site preparation and cleanup tasks, such as removing debris and establishing barriers around cutting locations.Document time, material usage, and equipment maintenance in daily logs or job tickets, including quantities in linear feet (LF) or square feet (SF).Possess knowledge of different types of saws, blades, and cutting techniques suitable for various materials and thicknesses.Have a solid understanding of construction safety measures and hazard awareness.Ensure compliance with all job site safety regulations while maintaining a zero-incident record.Demonstrate physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work under varying weather conditions.Exhibit the capability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.Display basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and maintaining cutting tools.Achieve precision in cuts (limiting overcutting, ensuring straight lines, and maintaining appropriate depths).Maintain equipment uptime and adhere to maintenance log requirements.Complete assigned cutting tasks promptly.Communicate effectively and collaborate with site teams.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in concrete cutting, familiarity with various types of sawing equipment, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. You should be able to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Saw Cutter or in a similar role is preferred.Familiarity with operating concrete and asphalt cutting equipment.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety practices.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Physically fit and able to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.Valid driver's license.
