Visit our website at www.strategicgroup.com for more information.Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate, Operational Due Diligence (ODD) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing in-depth operational risk assessments of third-party investment managers across a broad range of asset classes including hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, real estate, opportunistic, and traditional strategies.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide support to the ODD team with respect to the initial due diligence and ongoing monitoring of investment managers, funds, and vendors. This includes:Initiate ODD documentation requests and scheduling.Review and evaluation of the controls and processes for current and prospective managers as well as vendors.Review reports produced by Due Diligence vendors and background check providers.Participate and lead ongoing reviews (virtual/onsite) of managers and vendors.Maintain and develop relationships with key vendors in the Due Diligence process.Organizing and uploading to the current research system all documents used for manager reviews; ensuring data is accurate and up to date.Compiling and analyzing relevant manager documentation, data, and reporting.Creating and managing internal reports through manager research system.Maintaining issue log, monitoring and tracking critical events/issues, and initiating follow-up actions.Research new technologies and make recommendations regarding improvements to the ODD processes and procedures.Supporting and developing internal Enterprise Risk and Vendor Management programs.Coordinate with other business groups to provide information for client requests and external communications.Attend conferences and webinars to stay informed of market developments, industry trends and regulatory matters that could impact investment managers or due diligence procedures.Preparing presentations for internal and external meetings.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.5-10 years of relevant work experience in due diligence, audit, compliance, fund administration, operations, or a similar function in asset management, consulting, or public accounting.Progress toward or completion of professional certifications: CFA, CAIA, CPA, or other designations.Ability to independently manage projects (short-term and long-term) and meet deadlines / requirements with minimal supervision.Understanding of investment fund structures, operational processes, and regulatory frameworks.Knowledge of cybersecurity, operational risk, and vendor management frameworks.Preferred QualificationsStrong attention to detail and ability to assess both quantitative and qualitative information.Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.High degree of professionalism, discretion and integrity.Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills.Ability to work individually and on a team with other professionals (virtually and in-person).Curious mindset and continuous improvement orientation.Independent thinkers with strong risk awareness.
