    Stellar Care and Services is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSP/Mentors) for our Day Program in the Colorado Springs area.

    Stellar Care and Services' motto is Meaningful Day, Meaningful Life. What does a meaningful day look like? Here is how you would create a meaningful day for the individuals we support:

    Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8 am-4 pm; occasional Friday's and evening shifts 1-3 times a year during events.

    Compensation: $18.50 per hour with $.52 mileage reimbursement

    As a mentor, you work to build meaningful and healthy relationships with each individual we support. Mentors provide transportation and activity choice to each individual daily. This includes participating in fun activities with them such as dart tournaments, dances, company events, going to the library, preparing and participating in talent shows and attending our monthly birthday parties. During this time you are making it possible for our individuals with IDD to access their community and create meaningful and healthy relationships with their peers, staff and other community members. You will be fulfilled by assisting individuals in achieving goals, therefore, gaining their independence.

    Essential Qualifications:

    Have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent
    Have a safe and reliable vehicle
    Be willing to transport individuals in personal vehicle
    Carry appropriate and valid vehicle insurance and registration
    Be able to work independently and in cooperation with others
    Be able to lift and transfer 50-75 lbs.
    Passion and dedication in caring and advocating for adults with disabilities
    Have a valid driver's license, vehicle insurance and registration

    This is a driving position that will require the use of your personal vehicle to transport the clients we serve. The State of Colorado requires that any vehicle used for this purpose pass a detailed multi-point safety inspection. Some of the items on this inspection include windshield, suspension, brakes, lights, seatbelts and all other safety features. If offered this position, Stellar Care will cover the cost of the inspection, however any repairs required are at the expense of the applicant and must be resolved within 30 days of hire. Vehicles 5 years or newer are exempt from this inspection.

    Stellar Care and Services is hiring for direct support professionals for our Day Program and supported living services in the Denver Metro Area.

    Job purpose: DSP/Mentors assist and support adults with developmental disabilities in the community as they participate in activities, learn new life skills as well as assist participants to reach their personal goals.

    Essential job duties: DSP/Mentors provide transportation to and from activities and ensure safety within the community. DSP/Mentors provide companionship and support during day program hours, teach and assist participants with life skills and provide assistance to participants in self care and personal care as needed. DSP/Mentors assist participants in working toward their personal goals.

    Job types: Full and part time positions are available

    Schedule: Our working hours are M-F from 8am to 4pm.

    Compensation: Starting at $19.29 with mileage reimbursement $.52/mile.

    Applicants Must:

    Have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent

    Have a valid driver's license

    Have a safe and reliable vehicle

    Carry appropriate vehicle insurance

    Be able to work independently and in cooperation with others

    Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

    Consistently exercises individual judgment, makes decisions and solves problems.
    Create monthly progress reports to submit to DVR that include services provided and challenges the individual may face.
    Completes daily notes of individual's progress and challenges, timesheet and goal tracking in OnTarget.
    Works with Program Director to update and maintain program participant records.
    Reports complaints or performance concerns; manages conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner; responds to grievances; identifies and solves individual's problems.
    Represent Program Director, Director or designee at internal and external meetings.
    Coaches real-life job skills to individuals with disabilities at their workplace while providing the needed supports to help them obtain and maintain meaningful employment in the community.
    Ongoing communication with workplace supervisors, team members, and family members.
    Provides on-site training, instruction, supervision, and advocacy for individuals at community job sites.
    Maintains and distributes employment information such as job openings to Program Director and individuals.
    Support individuals in increasing independence in their workplace and community.
    Assist individuals in understanding the functions and additional tasks of their job.
    Assist individuals in communicating and cultivating meaningful relationships with coworkers and management within their job and professional community.
    Assist individuals in advocating for their needs while at work, including potential formal accommodations needed.
    Maintain proper community supervision requirements.
    Transportation to and from individual's work/interviews, if required.
    Provides medication administration to individuals served when needed under QMAP certification.
    Proactively performs outreach to cultivate relationships with perspective employers.
    Maintains a healthy relationship with individuals serving as their single point of contact as needed; checks in regularly with the individual throughout their employment and connects them to any supports or resources needed through job placement.
    Carries out duties as assigned by Program Director and/or designated supervisor.
    Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a willingness to transport clients in your vehicle
    Personal vehicle use
    Must be at least 18 years of age due to driving demands
    Must be able to work evenings and weekend
    Able to perform the physical and mental demands of the position

    This is a driving position that will require the use of your personal vehicle to transport the clients we serve. The State of Colorado requires that any vehicle used for this purpose pass a detailed multi-point safety inspection through an ASE certified mechanic. Some of the items on this inspection include windshield, suspension, brakes, lights, seatbelts and all other safety features.
