    Stark & Stark is actively recruiting for a Part-Time Legal Secretary based in our Hamilton, NJ office. This position is expected to work between 15 and 20 hours per week. The right candidate will have the extraordinary opportunity to continue their professional development in a challenging, but collegial environment.


    Responsibilities:

    Assist with the scheduling of conference calls with attorneys, mediations, court appearances with clients, expert witnesses, other law firms, settlement conferences, oral arguments, and trials.Perform the legal support duties of ordering and retrieving medical records.Work with witnesses and other law firms to coordinate deposition and trial testimony.Professionally answer and handle phone calls and respond to emails, and act as client liaison on practice mattersHandle miscellaneous administrative duties such as composing correspondence, proofing documents, copying, filing, faxing, mailing, and handling general office duties as needed.Handle other responsibilities as directed.


    Qualifications:

    The right candidate will have at least 0-2+ years of law firm experience, with a strong interest in the legal field.Experience in Plaintiff’s Personal Injury matters is preferred.Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office is a must.The ideal candidate will be self-directed, and detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.Able to organize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Ability to maintain a high level of discretion, judgment, confidentiality, professional and ethical standards in communications with both external and internal parties.Well organized and able to see an assignment through to successful conclusion.Able to demonstrate a customer service demeanor regardless of the person or issue at hand.Ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies in the legal field.

    Support case investigations by identifying at-fault parties and assessing liability.Communicate regularly with clients to gather information on injuries, treatment, and financial losses.Obtain and organize medical records, billing documentation, and related materials to support damages claims.Identify and evaluate applicable health insurance coverage and potential liens.Draft demand letters and other legal documents; strong writing skills required.Prepare cases for settlement, litigation, and trial, including exhibit and visual aid creation.Draft and respond to discovery requests, pleadings, and procedural motions.Conduct legal research and manage case timelines and deadlines.Maintain professional communication with clients, opposing counsel, and relevant third parties.Perform accurate data entry and case updates in Filevine and NetDocuments.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum 0-3 years of experience in Plaintiff’s Personal Injury preferred, with hands-on knowledge of both pre-litigation and litigation case management.Familiarity with legal procedures in New Jersey.Paralegal certificate or associate’s degree required.Proficient in Microsoft Office with ability to quickly learn new legal technology.Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong time-management and follow-through skills.Excellent research, writing, and communication abilities.Demonstrated commitment to client service and professionalism.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.

    Responsibilities: 

    The candidate will support personal injury cases, with oversight from other attorneys in the practice.Responsible for all phases of personal injury litigation, with an emphasis on drafting pleadings, engaging in written discovery, taking and defending depositions and oral motion hearings.Candidate must know or be willing to learn medical concepts and terminology. Experience evaluating the merits of a personal injury claim, retaining experts, and providing guidance and counsel to clients through effective communication.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    Three to five years of experience handling personal injury cases is preferred.Strong research and writing skills.Must be skilled in negotiation and drafting.Possess superior verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrate strong integrity and professionalism.Exercise judgment and the ability to work autonomously and as an effective member of a team.Intellectual curiosity and the ability to problem solve independently.New Jersey judicial clerkship is a plus.Candidates with an insurance defense background are welcome to apply.Admission in New Jersey is required.
