Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Civil Construction Estimator to join our Project Management Team during a period of rapid growth. This role is critical to supporting our heavy highway construction projects by preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project documents, and working closely with subcontractors, vendors, and project managers to ensure successful bidding and execution. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in estimating civil construction projects and demonstrate the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
Review construction documents, specifications, and scope of work to prepare accurate estimatesExecute quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipmentPrepare detailed cost estimates including subcontractor, vendor, and overhead costsObtain and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliersDevelop and maintain databases of vendors, subcontractors, and government requirementsCommunicate project plans, contract terms, and cost structures to relevant partiesParticipate in project bidding reviews and decision-makingSupport project managers with financial oversight and cost management throughout the project lifecycleAttend departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiativesRequired Qualifications
Stable work history with 10+ years of heavy highway construction experienceBachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction ManagementMinimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimatingProficiency with estimating and scheduling software, including HCSS (HeavyBid) and/or Primavera P6Strong ability to read and interpret construction contracts and plansExcellent communication and organizational skillsLeadership experience with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environmentStrong relationships with local subcontractors and suppliersMust be comfortable working in a dog-friendly office environmentPreferred Qualifications
Experience with AutoCAD and other construction software toolsStrong field background in civil constructionDemonstrated success in managing estimates for multiphase projectsWork Environment
