Staff Accountant
At The Reading Group, we are looking for a highly skilled Staff Accountant who is eager to contribute to a growing and dynamic company. This is a full-service role that reports to the Controller and will be responsible for executing major components of the accounting cycle while participating in a wide array of projects to support and promote the financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities
Oversight of customer invoicing and tracking accounts receivable. Coordinating the accounts payable cycle and performing expense reconciliations. Performing general ledger maintenance and balance sheet account reconciliations. Classifying and analyzing several types of revenue, costs, and expenses. Development and compilation of financial analyses and reporting, including budgeting and forecasting. Review of entries submitted by the businesses to ensure compliance with accounting policies and practices.Required Skills
BA or BS in Accounting or Business with emphasis on accounting. Knowledge of accounting principles. At least three years of solid experience as a Staff Accountant with responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting. Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop. Ability to create and modify spreadsheets and financial analyses. Oversight and coordination Experience working in shared service delivery. QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Rent Manager and Avid Experience a plus. Experience with and knowledge of an integrated ERP system. Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills.Wages are negotiable within the competitive salary range set by The Reading Group. Responsibilities
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.Prepare budget and forecasting reports.Full cycle Accounts Receivable including Collections and Billing.Full cycle Accounts Payable.Multiple bank reconciliations and record keeping.Detailed analysis and preparation of reports for the owners of the company.Communicates (both in verbal and written form) with clients, client suppliers, vendors, and banking contacts.Assists Controller on tax return preparation.Tracks company credit card charges and reconciles statements.Prepares invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and general ledger accounts with various registers; extracts general ledger information; compiles revenue reports and balance sheets.Monitors loans, accounts payable, and receivables to ensure that payments are up to date.Generates and monitors purchase orders for all companies.Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Journal entries including maintenance of recurring journal entries and allocations.
Required Skills
BA/BS in Accounting or Business with emphasis in accounting.At least 2 years of experience as a bookkeeper or accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and financial reports.Meticulous attention to detail.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.Must be able to multi-task, manage time constraints and meet deadlines.Must be able to keep information strictly confidential.Accuracy in data entry.Ability to learn quickly.Strong organizational skills.Experience working in shared service delivery.QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Rent Manager and Avid Experience a plus.
