    Job Summary

    This position is a machine operator-level position within the manufacturing area that ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost to meet customer specifications and delivery requirements. Machine operator positions include the extrusion production line and/or material handling. The ideal candidate will ensure the finished package meets the highest level of quality and our customer expectations. We are willing to train all applicants on all tasks.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Responsible for material handling tasks being performed in accordance with the company’s policies and standards. Participates in training new employees. Assists in completing and maintaining departmental records, files and paperwork. Responsible for performing safe work practices, Reporting exceptions when necessary. Responsible for housekeeping and environmental compliance. Inspects and reports equipment, supplies, material issues/problems to the Supervisor. Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Ability to effectively communicate with all levels and types of internal and external individuals, including ability to write routine reports and correspondence Good organization and planning skills as well as problem solving Ability to read an interpret documents such as safety rules, shipping documents and procedure manuals Ability to work well in a team environment and commit to team goals Proficiency in Microsoft Word, SAP and Outlook Knowledge of ERP system software, preferably SAP Forklift Experience Pre-employment drug screening required.     Essential Job Duties

    Position is responsible for the set up and operation of equipment which blends/mixes/packages/transports liquid or dry chemicals that comprise our customer products.     Requirements

    Sets up, starts and runs all machinery, checking all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO standards. Weighs ingredients to meet recipe specification and inserts into machinery, or ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and inserts pre-blended materials into machinery. Monitors production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues.     Crawford Industries, now a part of Spartech, LLC has an opening for an Extruder Operator on our team in Crawfordsville, IN.The Crawfordsville operation of the organization specializes in extruding and converting flat plastic sheet. Plastic sheet may have graphics added and the die cut into license plates, the “lamp shade” used in veterinary clinics, signage, file folders, 3-ring binders, covers for school date books, for example. We reuse our scrap plastic whenever possible to create our environmentally friendly products. Come join our Extrusion team as they extrude plastic sheet to help create all kinds of products for our customers.

    General Summary and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Sets up and operates assigned extrusion line to produce quality plastic sheet at established rates.

    Key Responsibilities to include:

    Review the process sheet for each job assigned to confirm that set-up and materials furnished will yield product required.Perform set up and operate an extruder to produce quality sheet as specified on the process sheet at the established rates within posted tolerances and free of streaks and contamination.Perform safe start up and shut down of extrusion line as required.Complete first piece inspection and hourly quality inspections verifying gauge, size, squareness, opacity, surface condition. and overall appearance of the sheet.Work with Extrusion Utility on upcoming color or material changes.Grind webbing from downstream operations when available as like colors are extruded.Band skids as required and move loads to next work center as necessary.Assist maintenance during roll changes.Keep machine and area clean.Report mechanical problems to the Lead Extruder Operator, Extrusion Manager, and/or shift maintenance.Assist other operators as needed.Accurately report all direct and indirect labor activities.

    Requirements

    Required Skills/Experience:

    Job Summary:

    This position is an advanced-level position within the manufacturing area, primarily responsible for performing material handling utilizing forklift, weigh-up, and/or packaging duties within the production department.
