    Superintendent (Steel Erect Construction)

    This is a TRAVEL opportunity that requires travel to work sites throughout the U.S.Annual base salary $110,000 to $140,000, DOE. Potential to earn a bonus of up to 35% of base salary, based on meeting or exceeding established KPIs, metrics, goals, and objectives. (Bonus potential will be prorated based on actual salary earned during the year, e.g., first year of employment or years in which an unpaid leave of absence occurred.)Full-Time

As a pivotal part of the SPAN team, you will lead crews in effectively erecting Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings throughout the United States.     The Preferred Superintendent Candidate Will Have:

    10+ years of experience in the construction industry, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in SE (steel erection) or PEMB (pre-engineered metal buildings).A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, specifically on steel building erection projects with mid- to large-sized crews.A good understanding of pre-engineered metal building systemsAbility to establish and maintain effective and positive relationships throughout a project (customers, design team, subcontractors, and suppliers) that focus on SPAN's core values and meets/exceeds customer's expectationsComputer proficiency and utilization of a cell phone/company communication tools (e-mail, Microsoft products, internet, etc.)Multi-tasking skills with the ability to handle the multitude of issues that arise daily on a construction projectAbility to conduct weekly safety meetings, mentor/manage all jobsite personnel, and to train or direct training for new hiresAvailability for extensive travel throughout the United States and internationally

    Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Business Management, or related field strongly preferred but not required. Sufficient experience may be substituted for educational background.

    Experience:

    10 years trade experience and must have personally performed the duties being instructed to others with extensive knowledge and expertise in Pre-Engineered Steel Building Erection.

    5 years of supervision experience, specifically on steel building erection projects with mid- to large-sized crews.

    Strong experience with federal, state, regional, and local laws and regulations related to the construction industry.

    Computer Skills:

    Proficient in Microsoft Office products, utilizing a PC, cell phone, and company communication tools (e.g., e-mail, internet, etc.).

    Certifications & Licenses:

    OSHA 30 and First Aid Certified. Certified Aerial Platform and Forklift Operator. Must have a valid drivers' license. Must be able to be insured on the company's insurance policy as a driver for the company.

    Other Requirements:

    Must be able to receive instruction and supervision.

    Advanced Building Component Knowledge Demonstrates advanced knowledge of all building components and proper installation procedures.

    Advanced Proficiency in Reading Construction Drawings/Plans Advanced ability to read construction drawings/plans in order to carry out various construction tasks properly. Ability to partner with others for guidance and confirmation when there is a perceived discrepancy. Demonstrate advanced level of plan coordination.

    Advanced Proficiency in Work Plan Sequencing, Scheduling, and Budgeting Demonstrates ability to understand the proper timing of project tasks and milestones and costs and expenditures that impact the overall project budget.

    Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.

    Position Summary:

    The Construction Foreman (Steel Erection) is a front-line supervisory-level position. The Construction Foreman (Steel Erection) assists the Superintendent in supervising and leading a group of Employee-Owners (i.e., construction crews and the individual Employee-Owners on a jobsite) in the erection of pre-engineered, prefabricated steel buildings. Foremen ensure that their construction crews and workers do their jobs safely, skillfully, efficiently, and on schedule. This position requires strong leadership and mentoring abilities and a strong desire to learn.

    Construction Phase Responsibilities:

    Is responsible for organizing, maintaining, issuing, and managing tools and equipment on site, and effectively and timely communicating inventory
    needs to the Superintendent.
    Regularly inspects work for quality and adherence to SPAN standard details, drawings, plans, and other relevant specifications and directives.
    Is responsible for reviewing construction schedules and ensuring timely completion of site-specific tasks and objectives.
    Anticipates problems and/or conflicts that may arise during phases of construction and proactively adjusts accordingly.
    In the absence and in support of the Superintendent, completes and submits professional, accurate, concise, and consistent daily reports to
    effectively document the events of each day and create a comprehensive record of events.
    Regularly reviews updated and revised drawings and documents to ensure all new details are incorporated into the work plan.
    In the absence and in support of the Superintendent, communicates and cooperates with inspectors coming to the jobsite, demonstrating knowledge
    of the project, relevant drawings, and the required inspections, and addresses any deficiencies found as a result of an inspection in a timely manner.
    Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed and that the Company's quality standards are met,
    including ensuring the quality of building components.
    Closeout Responsibilities
    Addresses, ensures, and documents the proper and timely completion of all open action items listed on inspection reports from the Quality Assurance
    department and any associated punch lists.
    Conducts inspection, reconciliation, and inventory of tools, materials, and safety gear in preparation for the next project.

    Other Responsibilities/Duties
    Endeavors to stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the construction field.
    Projects a positive image of the organization to Employee-Owners, clients, industry, and community.
    Maintains a value added approach to all aspects and phases of construction projects.

    Reviews with the Superintendent all relevant documents, such plans & specs, shop drawings, and cut sheets prior to construction activities.
    Responsible for pre-construction activities on the jobsite, such as receiving materials and equipment and setting up all work areas, including the jobsite office.
    Construction Phase Responsibilities:
    Deciphers plans and directs proper layout and placement of building components.
    Plans, coordinates, assigns, and directs the day-to-day work and activities of construction crews and workers.
    Is responsible for organizing, maintaining, issuing, and managing tools and equipment on site, and effectively and timely communicating inventory needs to the Superintendent.
    Regularly inspects work for quality and adherence to SPAN standard details, drawings, plans, and other relevant specifications and directives.
    Is responsible for reviewing construction schedules and ensuring timely completion of site-specific tasks and objectives.
    Anticipates problems and/or conflicts that may arise during phases of construction and proactively adjusts accordingly.
    In the absence and in support of the Superintendent, completes and submits professional, accurate, concise, and consistent daily reports to effectively document the events of each day and create a comprehensive record of events.
    Regularly reviews updated and revised plans and documents to ensure all new details are incorporated into the work plan.
    In the absence and in support of the Superintendent, communicates and cooperates with inspectors coming to the jobsite, demonstrating knowledge of the project, relevant drawings, and the required inspections, and addresses any deficiencies found as a result of an inspection in a timely manner.
    Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed and that the Company's quality standards are met, including ensuring the quality of building components.

    Closeout Responsibilities:

    Addresses, ensures, and documents the proper and timely completion of all open action items listed on inspection reports from the Quality Assurance department and any associated punch lists.
    Conducts inspection, reconciliation, and inventory of tools, materials, and safety gear in preparation for the next project.
    Other Responsibilities/Duties:
    Endeavors to stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the construction field.
    Projects a positive image of the organization to Employee-Owners, clients, industry, and community.
    Maintains a value added approach to all aspects and phases of construction projects.
    Participates fully as a team member in building an atmosphere of openness, honesty, respect, cooperation, and accountability. Is visible, approachable, accountable, and available.
    Performs other duties as required by circumstances or assigned by the Superintendent.

    EDUCATION:
    High School Diploma or equivalent or sufficient experience may be substituted for educational background.
    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years trade experience.
    COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in using a cell phone, and company communication tools (e.g., e-mail, internet, etc.).
    CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES: OSHA 30 and First Aid Certified.
    Certified Aerial Platform and Forklift Operator.
    Must have a valid drivers' license. Must be able to be insured on the Company's insurance policy as a driver for the Company.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    Must be able to receive instruction and supervision.
    Intermediate to Advanced Building Component Knowledge Demonstrates knowledge of all building components and proper installation procedures
    Proficiency in Reading Construction Drawings/Plans - ability to read construction drawings/plans in order to carry out various construction tasks properly.

    Ability to partner with others for guidance and confirmation when there is a perceived discrepancy.
    Demonstrate plan coordination.
    Proficiency in Work Plan Sequencing - Demonstrates ability to understand the proper timing of project tasks.
    Ability to perform work at elevations in excess of 30 feet.
    Exposure to outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions.
    Travel required to multiple project locations.
    Must wear required PPE at all times (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, harness, etc.).
    Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
