    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

    As part of the rotary die cutter machine crew, rotates responsibilities between stacking, packing and palletizing finished product and feeding raw material into machine. Responsible for safely performing the responsibilities of the job and ensuring quality products are manufactured at a consistent rate of speed, in accordance with machine standards, while achieving daily production goals.

    SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:

    Reviews job ticket instructions and verifies palletizing information to verify box count, skid count, labeling information, and all other customer specifications. Safely sets up and starts up the shrink tunnel machine and conveyor system and maintain machine centers per machine standards.Receives finished product from shrink wrap tunnel and ensures that product is securely sealed; will assist other packing lines in other departments with stacking and palletizing as needed.Labels each case appropriately and stacks off on skid per job ticket instructions.Upon completion of stacking the entire skid, prints finished goods load tags, verifies correct information, and adheres tag to the completed job to prepare for shipment.Rotates the packing and stacking duties on a daily basis with the feeding responsibilities of the Assistant Operator, as directed by Supervisor. Upon successful set up and startup of machine, and as directed by Supervisor, performs a daily rotation with Assistant Operator to perform the feeding job duties of the machine; responsible for inspecting raw material for defects, gathering and feeding raw materials into rotary die cutter machine and print units, and safely and consistently maintaining product flow to maximize efficiencies and achieve daily production goals. Actively performs all SCT Quality procedures and standards including required quality checks and sample pulls ensuring customer specifications and quality standards are consistently met; actively works with the crew to ensure quality of the product meets all standards and customer specifications.Records productivity and information about the job within the manufacturing computer system, accurately completes production reports and records production data including start and stop times for all crew members, count of finished goods produced, and raw material used. Reports all issues with equipment, dies, or raw material to supervisor or maintenance department.Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assists in repair of machine malfunctions; performs routine cleaning, and maintenance.Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; uses situational awareness and actively looks for weak signals to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions; consistently wears appropriate PPE for the task at hand and within the assigned area; immediately notifies Supervisor of any unsafe condition that exists.Communicates effectively with other team members throughout the shift and at shift change to share critical information necessary to perform the job safely and efficiently; collaborates regularly with Quality team to obtain necessary approvals and to ensure quality standards are consistently met.Performs routine cleaning and assists with preventative maintenance (PM) duties of machine ensuring all PM’s are completed on time as established in the PM schedule. Actively seeks and adopts new updates and improvements to processes, new procedures, and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.Maintains a clean work environment in accordance with Food Safety and 5S program.Assists other departments or positions with duties as assigned.

    AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead others that have been placed with them to execute the demands of the operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor and other written instructions.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

    The Utility Machine Operator is responsible for operating various production machinery as assigned by the Supervisor and according to the daily production schedule. Safely operates corrugated converting equipment including the Window Film, Flatbed Die Cutter and Curtain Coater machine ensuring high-quality corrugated packaging and products are produced at a consistent rate of speed within established machine standards, production goals, and customer specifications.

    SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Safely start up, set up, operate and perform necessary machine adjustments in a consistent manner while adhering to required safety, quality, and production operating proceduresFollows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines; uses situational awareness and actively looks for weak signals to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions; consistently wears appropriate PPE for the task at hand and within the assigned area; immediately notifies Supervisor of any unsafe condition that existsActively performs all SCT Quality procedures including required quality checks and obtaining required approvals; works with machine crew to continuously monitor production to ensure quality standards are consistent and meet customer specificationsContinuously monitors machine operation to detect any malfunctions and identifies defects or deviations from quality standards; performs machine adjustments and troubleshooting to correct defects Records defects or non-conforming items appropriately and notifies Supervisor or Quality Manager; ensures that finished products with defects are properly scrapped and discarded while consistently following procedures to minimize wastePerforms routine cleaning and preventative maintenance as scheduled on machine, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged partsTroubleshoots issues or malfunctions with machinery and performs minor repairs when possible.Actively communicates issues with machinery to the maintenance technicians and works together to troubleshoot and resolve issues while minimizing downtime Accurately records and completes production notes for each job including start up time, down time, finished goods produced, raw material usage, waste, etc. Provides guidance, instruction, and assistance to machine crew to ensure product is meeting quality standards and within the run speeds and goals established.Communicates with upstream and downstream internal customers effectively to improve safety, quality, and efficiency of production; effectively communicates with the following shift regarding status of jobs, machine issues and other necessary informationActively seeks and adopts new updates and improvements to processes, new procedures, and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operationResponsible for maintaining machines, equipment and work area that are within GMP and GFSI standards; assists the Food Safety Team in ensuring that product meets or exceeds GFSI standardsMaintains a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and supplies in accordance with the 5S system

    Window Machine: Safely feed corrugated sheets into feeder section of window machine to ensure a straight and smooth flow of productUtilizing attachments, perform machine adjustments when necessary to achieve proper windowing; adjust stacking section to ensure blanks are stacking uniformly Print job sheets, load and WIP tags; perform routine cleaning and maintenance including cleaning belts, drums and replacing film

    Flatbed Die Cutter:Safely start up and set up flatbed die cutter, pile turner and conveyor systemInspect each die and properly plug dies into machine; set up turn table and ensure accurate alignment to the sheet sizeSafely position corrugated sheets into the feed section; turn table and flips sheets ensuring removal of any defective or non-conforming material

    Curtain Coater MachineMeasure dimensions of corrugated sheets and ensure sufficient wax supply in coating containerSafely operate wax coater pump and properly feed sheets into the curtain coaterAccurately record job details, job number and paper weight before and after waxing; perform periodic quality checks of wax using oil drop tests

    Review job ticket instructions prior to each run; ensure all necessary items and information is provided to produce job per customer specifications; verify raw materials are correct and accurately match the job ticket description

    Operators may cross trains in other areas or on other machines as needed and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

    AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor and written instructions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year experience in a manufacturing or production environment including 3-6 months of machine operation experience; experience in a corrugated plant is preferred. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize computer software. Requires mechanical aptitude and skills.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
