This role plays a critical part in securing new work, mentoring junior staff, and driving preconstruction strategy from initial bid through project award.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead full-cycle estimating efforts for commercial drywall projects, including metal stud framing, drywall, insulation, acoustical ceilings, and specialty systemsPerform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive cost estimates from drawings and specificationsAnalyze bid documents, identify risks, and develop scope clarifications and exclusionsSolicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricingPrepare and present bid proposals, budgets, and value engineering optionsCollaborate with project managers, executives, and clients during preconstructionMentor and oversee junior estimators, providing training and quality controlMaintain and refine historical cost data and estimating processesParticipate in post-bid reviews, project handoffs, and client interviews

    Qualifications

    5+ years of estimating experience in commercial drywall or related construction tradesStrong understanding of drywall assemblies, metal framing systems, and acoustical ceilingsAdvanced ability to read and interpret construction documents and specificationsProven track record of successfully bidding and winning projectsHigh level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detailStrong communication, leadership, and negotiation skillsProficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software

    Preferred (but not required)

    Experience with estimating tools such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Planswift, or similarBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related fieldExperience with large-scale commercial or multi-project estimating environments
