    Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Qualifications:

    Successful graduation from a school giving a course of not less than two years for physical therapist assistants, which has been approved for the educational preparation of physical therapist assistants by the appropriate accrediting agency recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation or the United States Department Of Education at the time of her or his graduation and have passed to the satisfaction of the board an examination to determine her or his fitness for practice as a physical therapist assistantMust be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as a physical therapist assistant in the state ofPrior experience in Physical Therapy, preferredMember of state and national American Physical Therapy Association, preferredProfessional attitude and appearanceProficient administrative and public relations skillsThorough knowledge of the principles, methods, materials and equipment used in physical therapyThorough knowledge of the possible hazards to patients during treatment and necessary precautionary and remedial measuresAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and to obtain their cooperation in the treatment prescribedAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with the medical staff and other personnelDemonstrate emotional stability in order to cope with the demands of both patients and employeesMust maintain patient and employee confidentialityKnowledge of Medicare and third party reimbursement, preferred Read Less
