    Why This Role Exists

    Skyway Precision is expanding its advanced manufacturing capabilities and is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to support production at its Livonia, Michigan facility.

    This position plays a key role in programming complex machined castings used in industrial, agricultural, and heavy equipment applications. You'll work closely with engineering, quality, and machining teams to develop efficient machining processes, improve cycle times, and support continued growth in multi-axis manufacturing capabilities.

    The Work You'll Be Doing

    In this role, you will:

    Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam Develop machining strategies for large and complex cast components Support new product launches and process improvements Work closely with machinists during setup, prove-out, and production Review engineering drawings, models, and manufacturing requirements Select tooling, workholding, and machining methods Improve cycle times and overall machining efficiency Troubleshoot programming and machining issues Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure successful manufacturing outcomes

    5+ years of CNC programming experience Strong Mastercam programming experience Experience programming CNC mills and machining centers Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, cutting parameters, and machining strategy Experience supporting setup, prove-out, and production machining Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

    The Work You'll Be Doing

    In this role, you will:

    Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions Install tooling, fixtures, and workholding Set offsets and make machine adjustments as required Load and run CNC programs Perform first-piece and in-process inspections Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues Maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality Work closely with programmers, quality personnel, and production leadership Support both short-run and production machining operations
