These positions will be based out of our Burlington, WA location. The job holders will be responsible for analyzing, sorting, cutting, shearing and packaging recycled metals (Ferrous and Non-Ferrous) for storage in the warehouse or collection in piles and for transport out of the yard, including safely preparing and dismantling vehicles for recycling at the car pad.  Experience working in a labour environment is an asset, but most of all a good work ethic and a willingness to learn are the keys to success in this role and for growth opportunities. FERROUS & NON-FERROUS RESPONSIBILITIES:Receives metals from customer and assist in unloading if required.Assesses and weighs various types and grades of recycled metals.Maximizes mix loads of scrap from customers by sorting, high-grading and segregating accordingly.Loads and unloads trailers using a forklift.Drains fluids from vehicles and prepares them for baling.Dismantles scrap materials and remove high value metals from them.Ensures property, facilities, and equipment remain in good order.Communicates with customers and ensure they receive professional service.Cuts larger too thick pieces of metal into smaller marketable pieces.Cleanup and maintenance of equipment and job site.VDU RESPONSIBITIES: Removes tires, batteries, catalytic converters, & mercury switches from vehicles. Drains all fluids from vehicles.Packages and prepare bus tires and batteries for transport.Ensure fire prevention and follow safety guidelines.Monitor all waste tanksCompletes all necessary paperwork. May include, but not limited to, daily logs, inspection logs.Complies with all PPE requirements for the task, and ensures all PPE is stored properly in designated area.Communicates any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.Adheres to Compnay's workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.Maintains working knowledge of changes in technology and operation techniquesQUALIFICATIONS:Knowledgeable of recycled metal types and grades (training can be provided).Must have strong vehicle parts knowledge.  Ability to use a forklift, skid steer or front-end loader is an asset.Knowledgeable about general safety practices.Willingness to work in an outdoor environment (rain or shine)Able to communicate professionally.

    Position Overview
    Skagit River Steel & Recycling, Inc. under the ABC Recycling umbrella group of companies is seeking a Commercial Truck Driver to be based out of our Burlington, WA location to operate our trucks hauling scrap metal to and from different locations to our Skagit Valley location. Occasionally, you may need to haul material to and from other ABC locations and partner companies.

    The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record along with experience operating semi- trucks and front load trucks. The ability to complete daily logs and reports and carry out the instructions is also essential.

    Responsibilities
    Performs pre/post-trip inspections of the vehicle assigned to drive.Communicates with customers in a professional manner.Carries out general safety practices of a commercial driver.Follows guidelines for safe load securement.Carries out instructions from Dispatch in a timely and professional manner.Complete daily logs and reports.Qualifications
    Must have valid Commercial Driver Licenses (Class A CDL) with air brakes.Preferably 3-4 years experience.Experience with roll-offs, semi-trucks preferred.Experience with front load trucks is desirable.Prior experience in scrap metal recycling or demolition would be beneficial.Why Work for Skagit River Steel and Recycling
