    REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION LEVEL:

    High school diploma; BA/BS Education (preferred)

    EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

    High school/college participation

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical
    dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk,
    and sit. The ability to travel between locations.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    College course work in the Prevention and Care of
    Athletic Injuries. Knowledge of the sport.
    Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
    Issues equipment and supervise the students' care of it; check in and inventory equipment at the end of the season. Supervises physical examinations and be certain that every athlete returns the necessary form signed by the doctor and parent. Promotes a style of play consistent with the scope and sequence of the total program. Prepares a daily practice schedule and make continued efforts to improve coaching techniques. Dresses appropriately for coaching duties at practice and game time. Adheres to policies and procedures established by the Sioux Falls School District. Administers first aid to an injured player and take appropriate action such as notifying the family doctor, the parent, athletic director, and building principal. Communicates between officials and coaches in professional manner. Attends rules meetings and is familiar with the rules of the game. Attends coaches meeting as deemed necessary by Coordinator of Athletics. Performs other duties as assigned.

Assists with supervising all practices and assists with the handling of discipline. Assists with organizing pep rallies with approval by Activities Principal. Assists with travel planning. This position or assistant will attend all games during fall/winter sports seasons that are played in the City of Sioux Falls, Brandon, and Harrisburg. No other out of town travel for regular season. This position or assistant will travel with cheerleaders for post-season tournaments. Assists with supervising fund raising to supplement funds for travel, posters/paint, camps, uniforms, supplies, and meals. Assists with setting up and conducting tryouts. Performs other duties as assigned by head coach/administration.

    EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

    Degree in theater or course work in theater, plus training in oral interpretation coaching techniques recommended.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    This position requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination and hearing; intermittent repetitive motions with the wrists, hands and fingers, sitting, walking and keyboarding. The position requires frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, speaking, turning, grasping and carrying.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Extensive background in dramatic literature, all forms of prose, poetry and non-fiction. Familiarity with all rules governing oral interpretation competition and National Forensic League oral interpretation rules. Willingness to commit time to finding selections and one-on-one coaching of interpreters. Available and willing to work several days after school and/or evenings coaching students. Available and willing to chaperone, coach, and judge at weekend and after school contests.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
    Reads new material and prepares cuttings in the seven oral interpretation competitive categories. Helps students prepare introductions for their interpretation selections. Helps schedule coaching sessions for all competitive interpreters. Assists in monitoring and chaperoning all overnights in accordance with District policy and procedure. Assists in monitoring individual behavior of team members to meet acceptable standards of courtesy and sportsmanship reflective of the best traditions of the activity. Assists in helping oral interpretation team members to dress effectively and appropriately. Assists in preparing a team for competition at invitational tournaments, SDHSAA State Festival, and the National Forensic League Tournament. Assists in maintaining a close relationship with the school's Booster Club and with the competitor's families. Assists in organizing and hosting the year-end oral interpretation awards ceremony (or helps with a combined debate/O.I. banquet). Assists in keeping a well organized library and/or file of all past interpretation selections. Assists in keeping a record of all NFL points earned during a student's oral interpretation career. Judges interpretation and other forensic events at tournaments attended. Assists in hosting and administrating novice after school contest(s). Meets with and communicates to Fine Arts Coordinator on all items of travel, budget, standards, calendar, and schedules. Performs other duties as assigned by oral interpretation head coach.
