Purpose of the Role: Assist in the daily operations of the yard, including sorting, processing, and handling various types of scrap metal. This role requires attention to safety, and the ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments. Principal Accountabilities: * Perform & maintain general housekeeping. * Load and unload materials manually or with use of manual lifting equipment * Sort and separate metals (e.g., ferrous vs. non-ferrous) according to type and grade * Assist with preparing scrap materials for shipment * Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work site * Follow proper safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) Qualifications/Experience: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. * Forklift certified * Must be able to comfortably wear all Personal Protective Equipment. (I.e. Job Summary Responsible for the electrical maintenance of all plant equipment to assure efficient, timely and safe operations of the facility. Major Job Responsibilities/Duties * Develops and implements cost effective preventive maintenance schedules and programs to maintain all electrical equipment in a safe and excellent operating condition * Performs all routine maintenance for electrical equipment. * Assures completion of electrical repairs as expeditiously and cost effectively as possible to avoid work stoppages while maintaining safety * Recommends replacement of equipment with reconditioned or with new facilities, if purchase would be more economical than repair * Determines spare parts to be ordered and ensures that all necessary parts and outside services are available to support electrical equipment * Trains backup personnel to insure proper operation of the Mill when the Electrician Foreman is not available. * Supervises outside vendors when required for repair of electric equipment * Assist garage mechanics with electrical repairs of yard/mill equipment as needed * Perform other duties as assigned Job Qualifications High School (or equivalent) or technical diploma required. Electrical license desired Job Related Experience * Up to 8 years' experience in operation & maintenance of electrical equipment (i.e. High Voltage - 4160V0, equipment interlocks, and control wiring. Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics. Power generation experienced desired. * Employee must be conscientious in practicing sale operating conditions in the plants at all times and be able to anticipate electrical equipment maintenance needs. Must have the technical knowledge to repair and maintain power generation equipment. * Good communication skills. Be able to work with little or no supervision. Be able to keep regular and timely records. * Be able to troubleshoot problems, find solutions and correct the problem. Key Responsibilities Welding & Fabrication * Perform MIG, Stick, and/or Flux-Core welding on a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. * Fabricate, modify, and repair containers, dumpsters, skips, and other metal components. * Build or reinforce structural components, guardrails, platforms, and equipment attachments. * Interpret and work from drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions. Equipment Repair & Maintenance * Assist in repairing scrap yard equipment such as material handlers, loaders, skid steers, conveyors, shredders, shears, and balers. * Cut metal using oxy-acetylene torches, plasma cutters, and other cutting tools. * Perform basic mechanical tasks including bolting, grinding, and fitting components. Scrap Yard Operations * Collaborate with the operations team to ensure safe and efficient metal processing. * Assist with dismantling or cutting oversized scrap for processing. * Help maintain yard organization, equipment staging, and safe workflow. Safety & Compliance * Follow all OSHA and facility-specific safety policies. * Use proper PPE and ensure work areas are kept clean and hazard-free. * Inspect tools and equipment regularly to ensure safe operation. Qualifications & Skills * 2+ years of welding or fabrication experience (scrap yard or industrial setting preferred). * Proficiency in MIG and Stick welding; oxy-fuel cutting required. * Ability to read blueprints or fabrication drawings. * Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. * Strong mechanical aptitude; experience with heavy equipment repair is a plus. * Ability to lift 50-75 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
