    Position Overview

    Manage day-to-day operations of a work section of a commercial calibration and repair laboratory to meet and exceed customer requirements and company objectives. Responsibilities may include a combination of technical operations, customer service, shipping & receiving, quality representatives, and drivers. This includes direct interaction with customers, corporate personnel, and sales personnel. Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may guide the activities of other employees. Use ability as a skilled specialist to contribute to development of concepts and techniques, and to complete tasks in creative and effective ways. Work on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendations.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    Serve as a leader and set an example of embodying the principles of SIMCO’s Mission in Service.Manage the work section to budgeted financial objectives with Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities.Manage and control key variable expense accounts, technical and administrative staff.Assist in maintaining appropriate levels of accreditation and scope as defined by management; enhancement and expansion of the laboratory scope of accreditation (UKAS, KEMA, ISO/IEC 17025 Quality System).Instill operational process efficiencies to reduce costs and provide technical support for sales and operational efforts.Manage service performance of the laboratory to corporate objectives and assist technical staff in the analysis and resolution of complex problems commonly found in TMDE.Manage the laboratory assets to maximize the utilization and leverage of assets. Ascertain lab capabilities and increase where relevant.Support the Regional Director/VP in key initiatives and projects.Recommendation for asset acquisition with appropriate justification

    Qualifications

    1. Experience managing a technical service group at a company in a relevant or comparable industry.

    2. At least 10 years’ experience in the Calibration and Repair industry with formal experience in Physical Dimensional, RF/Microwave and general test equipment calibration. A formal PMEL or equivalent technical training is highly desirable.

    3. At least 2 years’ experience as a section lead or supervisor.

    4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    5. Knowledge of MS Office applications.

    6. Ability to manage and motivate employees.

    Physical Demands

    Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs without assistance. Occasional standing and bending are required.

    Working Environment

    Work primarily in a laboratory or manufacturing environment at a SIMCO location and or customer sites. Travel may be required to other domestic and possibly international locations.

    The Calibration Technician Apprentice will identify and utilize appropriate manual and automated measurement procedures. This position will normally receive detailed instructions on work, acquire job skills, learn company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks, and work on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required. The Calibration Technician Apprentice will perform laboratory housekeeping and may be required to report opinions and interpretations. The position .is not required to modify methods, develop new methods or validate new methods.


    Responsibilities and Duties

    · Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) in one or more of the following disciplines – Acoustical, Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical -- DC/Low Frequency, Electrical -- RF/Microwave, Fluid, Mechanical, Optical, Thermodynamics, Time & Frequency, to ensure compliance with published specifications.

    · Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.

    · Identify IM&TE out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc. Managers, and customers.

    · Identify and correct measurement errors, as applicable.

    · Prepare calibration reports and certificates.

    · Interact with other technicians, Customer Service Representatives, Account Managers, and customers

    · Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.


    Qualifications

    • Basic ability to troubleshoot repair, align and optimize precision equipment.

    • Must be able to perform general math and algebra functions.

    • Must have good interpersonal and customer service skills

    • Knowledge of MS Office applications

    • Must be a self-starter with innovation, integrity, and attention to detail with the ability to follow written procedures

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment within multiple departments

    • No previous calibration training required

    • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent


    Physical Demands

    Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance. Occasional standing and bending are required and repetitive computer work.

    5. Reject damaged goods or materials and correspondence with shipper to adjust damages or shortages.

    6. Participate in the assembling and shipping of outgoing merchandise or material.

    7. Print daily reports of outgoing shipments made on the FedEx and UPS systems.

    8. Receive in all materials (parts), subcontracted equipment, and customer equipment according to procedures, and distribute to the appropriate areas/employees.

    9. Initiate non-conformance documentation for damaged/incorrect materials (parts)/certification from vendor/subcontractor.

    10. Maintain well-organized files and records of transfers, UPS, FedEx, and airway bills shipped daily.

    Qualifications

    1. Must be able to operate a personal computer, keyboard, and pointing device.

    2. Knowledgeable in the use of Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Browsers.

    3. Knowledgeable of incoming and final inspection practices.

    4. Knowledgeable of standard material handling and packaging practices.

    Position Overview

    Receive and ship equipment, parts, and supplies, ensuring all transactions are accurately documented. Also ensures shipments to customers or subcontracted vendors or transferred to other SIMCO locations are properly packaged to ensure safe transportation and arrival at the designated destination.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    1. Organize and separate equipment for will call, cash on delivery, and shipment.

    2. Update the computer system with appropriate status of will call, cod, and shipped equipment.

    3. Process appropriate documentation to the accounting, purchasing, and customer service departments.

    4. Properly package all equipment, requiring shipment, for transportation to customers/vendors to ensure it arrives undamaged.

    5. Reject damaged goods or materials and correspondence with shipper to adjust damages or shortages.

    6. Participate in the assembling and shipping of outgoing merchandise or material.

    7. Print daily reports of outgoing shipments made on the FedEx and UPS systems.

    8. Receive in all materials (parts), subcontracted equipment, and customer equipment according to procedures, and distribute to the appropriate areas/employees.

    9. Initiate non-conformance documentation for damaged/incorrect materials (parts)/certification from vendor/subcontractor.

    10. Maintain well-organized files and records of transfers, UPS, FedEx, and airway bills shipped daily.

    11. Update the computer with the freight charges and airway bill numbers for customer shipments.

    12. Stock all supplies and parts in designated places.

    13. Maintain accurate inventory of stockroom parts.

    14. Maintain safety standards and regulations by keeping the work area clean.

    Qualifications

    1. Must be able to operate a personal computer, keyboard, and pointing device.

    2. Knowledgeable in the use of Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Browsers.

    3. Knowledgeable of incoming and final inspection practices.

    4. Knowledgeable of standard material handling and packaging practices.

    5. Skilled in use of foam in place packaging equipment.

    6. Experience working in shipping and receiving department.

    7. Knowledge of freight companies.

    8. Knowledge of the UPS, FedEx, Airborne Express shipping equipment (i.e. power ship

    and use of internet based shipping systems).

    9. Familiar with FedEx, Airborne Express, and UPS online tracking systems.

    10. Ability to relate information clearly and concisely in English both orally and in writing

    Physical Demands

    1. Must have the ability to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods of time.

    2. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unaided.


    Working Environment

    The employee works in a warehouse environment with controlled temperatures. While

    performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or

    airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

The Calibration Technician Apprentice will perform laboratory housekeeping and may be required to report opinions and interpretations. The position .is not required to modify methods, develop new methods or validate new methods.


    Responsibilities and Duties

    · Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) in one or more of the following disciplines – Acoustical, Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical -- DC/Low Frequency, Electrical -- RF/Microwave, Fluid, Mechanical, Optical, Thermodynamics, Time & Frequency, to ensure compliance with published specifications.

    · Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered during calibration.

    · Identify IM&TE out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc. Managers, and customers.

    · Identify and correct measurement errors, as applicable.

    · Prepare calibration reports and certificates.

    · Interact with other technicians, Customer Service Representatives, Account Managers, and customers

    Qualifications

    • Basic ability to troubleshoot repair, align and optimize precision equipment.

    • Must be able to perform general math and algebra functions.

    • Must have good interpersonal and customer service skills

    • Knowledge of MS Office applications

    • Must be a self-starter with innovation, integrity, and attention to detail with the ability to follow written procedures

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment within multiple departments

    • No previous calibration training required

    • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent


    Physical Demands

    Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance. Occasional standing and bending are required and repetitive computer work.


    Working Environment

    Working primarily in a laboratory or manufacturing environment at a SIMCO location and/or customer site. Travel may be required to other domestic and possibly international locations
