    A DAY IN THE LIFE:
    In this role, you will support a high-impact Network Operations Center that forms the backbone of global subsea service delivery. This role provides the opportunity to modernize NOC best practices and shape a world-class operations culture that scales while maintaining customer trust and operational excellence in a mission-critical subsea environment. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Incident and Problem Resolution:Spectrum Sharing Modules (SSM), Power Feed Equipment (PFE), and terrestrial backhaul connectivity (DWDM, Coherent Optics, OTN).Support root-cause analysis (RCA) for cable faults and implement corrective actions for recurring system instabilities.Collaborate with Incident managers during P1/P2 events (e.g., cable cuts), providing technical direction for traffic restoration via restoration pairs or diverse paths.Interface with marine maintenance authorities, cable ships, and subsea vendors to expedite undersea repairs or hardware replacement (RMA).

    Network Maintenance and Change Implementation:Plan and execute approved maintenance on subsea wet-plants and dry-plants following CAB authorization and MOP standards.Conduct firmware upgrades on transponders, gain equalization adjustments, and validation testing on submerged repeaters and branching units.Ensure adherence to change control and documentation standards, maintaining strict rollback and verification plans for high-latency transoceanic circuits.Review and validate post-change outcomes, reporting optical SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) metrics and identifying improvement opportunities.

    Monitoring and Optimization:Tune optical monitoring thresholds and alarms to differentiate between seasonal "ocean noise" and genuine system degradation.Use NMS and specialized subsea tools (Coherent OTDR, COTDR, Unit-specific Element Managers) to identify fiber anomalies and performance trends.Recommend and implement proactive measures to enhance network resilience, such as optimized power feeding or automated rerouting.Collaborate with Marine Engineering and QA teams to update optical baselines and improve emergency runbooks.

    Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:Maintain accurate and version-controlled documentation for straight-line diagrams (SLDs), cable landing station (CLS) layouts, and link budgets.Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Subsea NOC Knowledge Base (KB) regarding specific cable system architectures.Mentor and train Level I and Level II NOC staff through hands-on guidance in optical physics and peer review sessions.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent professional experience and specialized training may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.BICSI certified Technician (TECH) preferred, other BICSI or equivalent optical/marine certifications may be considered.8+ years of experience in enterprise or service provider network operations, with a heavy emphasis on optical transport and subsea systems.Strong technical expertise in high-capacity transport (Ciena, Infinera, Nokia, NEC, SubCom), DWDM, and subsea power feeding.Deep understanding of OTDR/COTDR, Optical Link Budgets, Q-factors, Chromatic Dispersion, and PMD.Experience with NMS, ITSM, and logging platforms (ServiceNow, SolarWinds, Splunk, or vendor-proprietary EMS).Working knowledge of scripting or automation tools (Python, Ansible, or similar) for managing large-scale optical fleets preferred.Certifications: CCNP (required), JNCIP, or equivalent advanced vendor certification preferred; ITIL v4 Foundation a plus.

    OFE Procurement & Strategy: Forecast and coordinate the Owner Furnished
    Equipment (OFE) lifecycle during pre-con. This includes demand loading,

    Master Construction Schedule.
    GC Procurement & Negotiation: Be an important stakeholder in the General
    Contractor (GC) selection process. Support the development of RFPs, perform
    commercial and technical leveling, and help negotiate the terms of both
    Pre-Construction and Construction Agreements to ensure maximum value and
    minimum risk for the owner.
    Engineering & Design Advocacy: Collaborate with the Engineering division to
    ensure that "Facility Ready" (FR) requirements and commissioning standards
    are explicitly defined in the Division 1 specifications and contract exhibits.
    Compliance & Due Diligence: Support the land due diligence process and
    permit application strategy. Ensure local regulatory requirements and
    environmental compliance standards are integrated into the projects execution
    plan.
