    SVLG Policy Fellow Innovation (Emerging Technology & Regulation)


    Help Guide the Rules of the Road for Tomorrows Technologies


    The Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) is seeking a Summer Fellow to support our Innovation-focused work within our new Policy Fellowship Program. This fellowship will provide early-career professionals with hands-on experience addressing the fast-movingregulatory and policy challenges related to emerging technologiesAI, automated mobility, data privacy, antitrust, and digital assetsshaping the future of Californias innovationeconomy.


    About the Fellowship

    This fellowship is part of SVLGs Policy Fellowship Program and is embedded in our Technology + Innovation Center of Expertise (COE). Youll join a cross-functional cohort offellows across other issue areas, supporting SVLGs real-time advocacy, monitoring keyregulatory developments and helping to shape the AI and innovation policy conversation.


    Key Issue Areas

    Artificial Intelligence governance and deploymentAutonomous and connected mobilityAntitrust and competition frameworksData privacy and cybersecurity


    Primary Responsibilities

    Research and synthesize complex policy proposals and legislative trendsDraft bill briefs, internal memos, and stakeholder updatesHelp shape SVLG responses to state and federal regulatory proposalsSupport convenings with member companies and public officialsTrack key hearings and provide rapid policy analysis


    Ideal Candidate

    This fellowship is ideal for current undergraduates or recent graduates seeking career pathsin public policy, political science, law, or tech policy. Successful applicants will bring:

    A strong interest in technology and its regulatory landscapeRelevant academic or internship experience in public policy, government, or researchThe ability to translate complex topics into clear, actionable policy analysisA team-oriented approach and willingness to learn in a dynamic environment


    Fellowship Terms & Application Info

    Length: 34 month terms (flexible start dates)Structure: 12 fellows per issue area; cohort-based modelCompensation: Monthly stipend provided

    The Silicon Valley Leadership Group (SVLG) is seeking a Summer Fellow to support our

    Infrastructure-focused work within our new Policy Fellowship Program. This fellowship will

    provide early-career professionals with hands-on experience tackling Californias most urgent

    infrastructure challengeshousing, transportation, energy, and grid resiliencyfrom the

    perspective of the states innovation economy.


    About the Fellowship

    Fellows are placed within SVLGs Infrastructure and Business Competitiveness track, part

    of our restructured Centers of Expertise (COEs). Youll join a cross-functional cohort of fellows

    across other issue areas, supporting SVLGs real-time advocacy and helping advance

    infrastructure modernization strategies essential to Californias economic competitiveness.


    Key Issue Areas

    Sustainable and transit-oriented housing solutionsGrid resiliency and clean energy policyRegional and state transportation investmentsPermitting and regulatory streamlining for infrastructure projects


    Primary Responsibilities

    Track and analyze state and local legislation, budget items, and regulatorydevelopmentsDraft concise bill briefs, policy memos, and internal updates for SVLG leadershipSupport member engagement and coalition-buildingAssist in preparing briefing materials for meetings with public officials and stakeholdersContribute to events, workshops, and strategic convenings


    Ideal Candidate

    This opportunity is designed for current undergraduate students or recent college

    graduates interested in pursuing careers in political science, public policy, or related fields.


    Strong candidates will demonstrate:

    A genuine interest in infrastructure, sustainability, or economic developmentCoursework or experience in public policy, environmental studies, or urban planningExcellent writing, research, and communication skillsA collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
