    Snapshot of your Day

    The Combined Cycle Design group for America region is looking for a qualified mechanical or chemical engineer to support Thermal Cycle Design and Performance Testing on various power generation projects. The primary function of this position is to support Thermal Cycle Design of power plant projects which includes development of Heat Balance Diagrams, Thermal Performance Guarantees, and Performance Risk Assessments. Design Responsibilities include a wide range of plant configurations including Combined Cycle, Conventional Steam Cycles, solar, gasification plants as well as work on advanced cycle concepts. Additionally, potential candidates may be asked to develop Performance Testing Procedures based on ASME codes and standards and conduct field performance testing.

    How you'll make an Impact

    Specific job responsibilities include the following:

    Develop Heat Balance Diagram Specifications and Performance Guarantees for Thermodynamic Systems Develop Performance Testing Procedures per ASME Performance Test Codes Conduct Field Performance Testing Activities based on applicable testing procedures including supporting of appropriate cycle isolations, measurements and calculations, and meeting appropriate test uncertainty requirements Support contract review for environmental and performance testing Support Combined Cycle Performance Studies on new frame developments as well as various service projects Support Plant Emissions and Acoustical Calculations Develop, review, and implement permitting plans for power generation facilities Resolve field installation and commissioning problems associated with equipment and systems within assigned responsibilities Communicate in both written and verbal form and interface with a wide range of organizations both internally and externally regarding power plant system and equipment design requirements. Develop, track and meet project or proposal schedule commitments and budgets


    What you Bring


    BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering Up to 5 years of experience in various power plant components. Strong communications skills, able to clearly and concisely express technical information of power plant system and equipment design requirements (or data) to non-technical associates, peers and management Strong Technical writing skills Presentation and meeting facilitation skills Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. Qualified Applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States. A working knowledge of thermodynamics and fundamental power plant theory is requirement for this position. The individual must have a desire to learn and become proficient with several computer aided thermal modeling codes, statistics, risk management, and process design tools. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as this position requires working in close conjunction with all design engineering functions of the Division as well as sales, marketing, outside architectural engineers, and project management.

    How You'll Make an Impact

    Leading a team of experts for mechanical, fluid, electrical and control systems towards the project management. You will collaborate with both local and global Siemens Energy Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, and Installation teams in support of project execution activities. You will facilitate information flow between Engineering, Program Management, and our customers as the need arises and agreed. Representing auxiliaries engineering in customer communication. Leading the contract technical scope and document schedule for auxiliaries from project kickoff through handover to our customer. You will coordinate appropriate flow-down of contract requirements to the Engineering teams at kickoff. Highlighting risks of execution to Program Management and Engineering.     What You Bring

    Background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or a comparable field, with a minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably an advanced degree or equivalent experience in Engineering. 8+ years of professional experience in the power plant project execution with knowledge of Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and/or Generator auxiliaries. Proven capability in both written and verbal communication. Proficient in English. Demonstrated experience in prioritizing work and completing tasks. Ability to work in multi-functional teams and lead through influence.     Support Program Manager (PM) of major frame development project as sub project lead. Lead and/or guide product development efforts to support project teams with your expertise throughout the entire development process Responsible to align targets and improve schedule. Work towards achieving Product Requirement Specification (PRS) targets including cost target and schedule Driving technical decisions, interface clarification and system design Conduct and/or support integration/frame reviews (as needed) Ensure module scope delivery supports program milestones including R-reviews, BOM completion, parts manufacturing etc. Frame interface in module for target setting, product requirements and issue resolution Conduct risk management at modules and system level Provide engineering support for the product implementation Provide technical support to marketing in support of proposals for sale of new unit and Modernization & Upgrades.     Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university/college. Master's degree is a plus. Minimum 8 to 10 years of successful experience in the design, testing, or manufacture of turbo machinery or rotating equipment. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience, where applicable. Detailed Knowledge of at least one of the gas turbine components/modules (Combustion, Turbine, Compressor) Basic knowledge on SAS, WEM and Thermodynamic for the gas turbine (all LGT frames), longitudinal cross section Knowledge regarding design, manufacturing, supply chain, and organizational aspects Demonstrated ability to direct multi-skilled professional team. Ability to motivate and direct multi-skilled professional teams. Strong program management and communications skills, network building, and solid engineering background.     A Snapshot of Your Day

    We're seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Winding & Assembly Design Engineer to join our team at Siemens Energy. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing winding and winding assembly components for power transformers, including preparing detailed drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs). You'll play a key part in driving innovation and optimizing product performance, all while ensuring alignment with Siemens Energy's design standards, quality benchmarks, cost targets, and project timelines.

    This role starts with a unique opportunity to be part of the launch phase of our brand-new manufacturing facility in Charlotte, NC. The facility is planned to be built by early 2026 for production commencement. Consequently, the first part of the journey in this role in our Company will involve overseeing the construction of the factory and the implementation of new processes, as well as managing the development of a high-performance team and coordinating all aspects of the factory setup to prepare for production.


    How You'll Make an Impact

    Interpret electrical design outputs to create detailed manufacturing drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for winding and winding assemblies used in large Power, Auto, and Generator transformers (up to 500 MVA, 550 kV), including sub-assemblies and components.Utilize 2D and 3D CAD software to model transformer components and assemblies, supporting the development of precise engineering documentation and BOMs.Provide technical support throughout the winding assembly manufacturing process, including quality inspections, failure analysis, and tolerance concessions.Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve design-related queries, recommend alternative solutions, and ensure adherence to quality and performance standards.

    How You'll Make an Impact

    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.5+ years of experience in transformer electrical design or winding & assembly design.Expertise in designing various winding types (helical, layer, disc, multi-start) for LV, HV, tertiary, and regulating systems in transformers above 100 MVA / 220 kV.Familiarity with copper conductor types, including paper-covered strips and CTC (with/without enamel or epoxy).Experience in winding assembly design and insulation components (e.g., spacers, barriers, oil guides, molded pressboard parts).Knowledge of specialized winding processes such as conductor bending, joint formation, enamel removal, block pressing/sizing, gluing, crimping, and brazing.Understanding of dielectric principles, short-circuit forces, and oil flow mechanisms within windings.Willingness to relocate to Charlotte, NC if not already based in the area.
