    This position will be responsible for administering medication correctly to the appropriate resident and providing adequate resident care.


    Responsibilities:



    Utilize individual care plans of residents for the performance of resident care.
    Administer medications as prescribed by physician on the MAR or by other medical providers.
    May perform inhalation therapy, which includes inhalers and nebulizer.
    May apply topical applications of sprays, creams, ointments, lotions, and transdermal patches.
    Instillation of eyes, ears, and nose medications.
    Take vital signs or observe residents to detect response to specific medications.
    Assist residents with ADL (Activities of Daily Living) skills could include minimal bathing assistance.
    Perform daily housekeeping and laundry services.
    Coordinate activities for the day and assist in the planning, development, and implementation of activities, which enrich the lives of the residents.
    Report and record all observations and care given to residents to determine changes in mental and physical condition.
    Assist with serving every meal. Prepare and clean dining room if needed.
    Answer signal lights or bells to determine resident needs. Run errands, direct visitors, and answer telephones.
    Take residents to and from appointments in the facility provided van.
    Perform various tasks including checking vital signs, weighing residents, and collecting specimens.
    Follow provision of medications and health maintenance activities as outlined in 172 NAC 95 Regulations governing the provisions of medications by Medication Aides.
    Demonstrate personal accountability in the delivery of resident care in a competent, professional, and compassionate manner.
    Communicate effectively between resident, resident’s families, physicians, and other staff members of the healthcare team in evaluation of care to ensure continuity of care.
    Verify identify of residents receiving medications and record name of drug, dosage, route, and time administered in the MAR.
    Communicate and collaborate effectively with other health team members regarding resident’s condition, nursing plan of care, and resident satisfaction needs and recommendations for meeting identified outcomes.
    Follow approved shift report format when communicating resident information.
    Identify and recognize abnormal symptoms/changes in resident’s condition and appropriately report condition to RN or appropriate licensed nurse.
    Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
    Promote and ensure resident safety in performance of all responsibilities.
    Assist in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment.
    Protect the personal belongings of each resident, including eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids, furnishings, jewelry, clothing, and memorabilia. Promptly report missing items according to established policy and participates in efforts to locate missing items.
    Promote a homelike environment for all residents.

    Requirements:



    High school diploma or GED.
    Must be at least 18 years old and have a Driver’s License.
    Prefer geriatric experience.
    Medication Aid Certification through the State of Nebraska, or willing to obtain.
    CPR and/or First Aide certified.
