Position Summary
The Aquatics Manager is responsible for the leadership, supervision, and safe operation of all aquatic programs and facilities at the Sid Jacobson JCC. This includes oversight of lifeguards, swim instructors, and swim team coaches; management of the pool schedule; coordination of private and small group swim lessons; and delivery of monthly in service trainings.
Lifeguards at the JCC also serve as first responders throughout the agency, and the Aquatics Manager ensures they are properly trained, prepared, and supported in this role. As a member of the Health and Wellness Center's leadership team, the Aquatics Manager contributes to strategic planning, cross departmental collaboration, and participates in the Manager on Duty (MOD) rotation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Aquatics Operations
Oversee daily operations of the pool, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all members and program participants.Develop and manage the full pool schedule, including lap swimming, group classes, private lessons, swim team practices, and special programs.Ensure compliance with all Nassau County Department of Health regulations and JCC safety standards.Maintain accurate records of pool operations, chemical levels, incident reports, and staff certifications.Lifeguard Supervision & First Responder Training
Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all lifeguards.Create and manage monthly lifeguard schedules, ensuring full coverage during all operating hours.Conduct monthly in service trainings focused on water rescue skills, emergency response, and first responder responsibilities throughout the agency.Ensure all lifeguards maintain required certifications and demonstrate readiness to respond to emergencies.Swim Instruction & Swim Team Oversight
Oversee private swim lessons and small group classes for children and adults, ensuring high quality instruction and member satisfaction.Support and supervise swim team coaches, ensuring alignment with JCC values, safety standards, and program goals.Monitor program participation, instructor performance, and member feedback to guide improvements and growth.
Program Development & Member Engagement
Identify opportunities to expand aquatics programming, including specialty classes, clinics, and seasonal offerings.Engage regularly with members to ensure a positive experience and address concerns promptly and professionally.Collaborate with the marketing team to promote aquatics programs and highlight safety initiatives.Leadership Team Participation
Serve as an active member of the Health and Wellness Center's leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, operational improvements, and cross departmental initiatives.Support the JCC's mission by fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment that strengthens community engagement.Manager on Duty Responsibilities
Participate in the MOD rotation, providing facility oversight, staff support, and member assistance during assigned shifts.Respond to operational issues, safety concerns, and member inquiries with professionalism and sound judgment.Ensure a safe, positive, and community focused environment consistent with JCC values.Qualifications

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an indoor aquatic facility.Exposure to varying temperature conditions, humidity, and pool chemicals.May involve working early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Fast-paced environment requiring coordination with staff, patrons, and emergency services.May be exposed to noise, water splashes, and slippery surfaces.

Perform floor cleaning, mopping, stripping, restroom cleaning and sanitizing, garbage and recycling collection and disposal, dusting, window washing, and carpet vacuuming, and carpentry repairs
Monitor, maintain, repair and replace (after all appropriate approvals), central supplies, cleaning supplies, road salt & sand, security/alarms, paper goods, etc.
Oversee all snow and ice removal from roads, parking areas, and sidewalks
Maintain Keys and lock sets and assist with opening and closing
Report problems and/or unsafe conditions to the Facilities Supervisor
Coordinate and assist with department and employee moves such as hanging pictures and shelves and dismantling and installing furniture
Complete incident reports when necessary
Respond to emergencies in building and on campus as needed
Suggest improvements to facilities and equipment systems to improve performance and reduce environmental impact and cost
Assist with Center-wide special events and programs
Additional duties as assigned

Join the Sid Jacobson JCC Summer Streeters team and help bring the magic of camp to campers ages 3- 13 years old. We are looking for enthusiastic hard-working individuals to work as Counselors at our Day Camp in East Hills, NY. Camp runs from Monday to Friday, June 30 th through August 15 th ; with pre-camp orientation in May and June.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily supervision of campers ages 3- 13, including supervising and supporting campers during various camp activities, trips, lunch, and swimming.
Become well-versed in all aspects of the camp program including but limited to health and safety protocols, camp values and goals, and the mission of the JCC.
Ensure that all safety procedures are strictly enforced, and any incidents are both handled and documented in a timely manner.
Communicate regularly with the Head Counselor and Camp Directors.
Come prepared every day to fully participate in camp activities including the camp swim program.
Actively participate in activities that commensurate with the abilities, limitations, and needs of all campers.
Foster positive relationships between campers, providing guidance and support.
Read and fully comply with the camp policies set forth in the staff guide that will be given at orientation, this includes rules and regulations, dress code, and emergency procedures.
Exude enthusiasm for camp values.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Camps Directors as need be.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working with children in a camp or school setting preferred but not required.
